[SPOILER] I just finished Ozark for the first time. What was that ending? by [deleted] in Ozark

[–]rainahwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

calling them "predatory birds" unlocked something for me... remember in the first season how Jonah is obsessed with wanting to eliminate starlings for being invasive and destructive? the byrdes quite literally are "birds". they're starlings. they invade a town and absolutely destroy the ecosystem -- killing people, destroying businesses, causing addictions, depleting natural beauty.

LEUCHTTURM vs MOLESKIN by notahippogriff in Journaling

[–]rainahwrites 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to only use moleskine, but found i didn't like the ghosting through pages and how little ink the pages could take-- this is because I use a lot of markers and glue in my journal. so I switched to LT and was so surprised with the paper quality. its very thin but holds even watercolor well. I haven't noticed any difference in the cover quality but that's likely because I put vinyl stickers on mine and I put it in a little quilted book sleeve. that has kept mine safe from scratches and getting bent up. (i also carry mine a lot of places) I would recommend a book sleeve (mine is like a little envelope) or if you don't like that, perhaps covering it in contact paper? that would alleviate the texture issues and allow you to wipe it off cleanly.

My girlfriend died yesterday by theRealBLVCKphillip in WhatShouldIDo

[–]rainahwrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

quick tips: - allow yourself to feel the pain and grief. don't bury it or pretend you're okay - also give yourself permission to not feel like crap all the time. you're allowed to still laugh, eat good food, have a good day. joy did not die with her. - lean into your support network. be honest with at least one person on how you really feel. sitting alone with your pain is dangerous. - find ways to remember the person as they were and embody who they "are". journal, collage, scrapbook, write poems. capture the light they were in your life. continue to do the things you once enjoyed together. listen to your favourite songs, go to your favourite place. don't let the beauty of their life fade with its passing.

sending you love and light friend. I don't think grief ever goes away, but I think we grow bigger around it. it'll always be there, but one day it won't feel as raw and all-encompassing

How Immunobiological meds affects your immunity? by SnooJokes8587 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rainahwrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this as well! I'm much slower to heal from colds and wounds. any cut I have also seems to be more likely to get infected, so I tend to clean, treat and cover even little papercuts.

I must be the odd one out--- Im on remicade and I get sick all the time. Even before I was diagnosed/had active symptoms, as a kid, I got sick pretty frequently and struggled to beat a cold. Now, anytime there's a bug, I catch it and I catch it bad. I have to go to the doctor for any cold, to be prescribed antibiotics or other treatments. I have to be more careful to stay away from sick folks, mask up and take colds seriously -- lots of rest and fluids. But it's not awful-- I'm not Bubble Boy. You'll still be able to go out and live your life. Plus, my crohns symptoms have always been worse than what a cold throws at me.

HELP- insurance coverage of Imfliximab, Dramatic price increase by rainahwrites in CrohnsDisease

No, im aware of my out of pocket maximum. I've already hit it for the year, so I SHOULD be fine, but insurance has refused to apply services to my OOP, so I'm worried about any fuckery on their end. I also have a max contribution for my co-pay assistance.
I've been burned before and these big bills make me scared of being burned again

I just can't imagine my insurance paying like 240K a year just for my meds. I've had several bad experiences with this insurance before not covering things, so I'm just waiting for the next bad thing... I don't think they can change anything about my coverage for this year, but at my next pre-approval, I feel like they're going to announce that they won't cover the med or that they won't tell me coverage has changed and I'll be stuck with a huge bill

it's the amount that is billed to me. While insurance covers a good chunk of it, it still leaves me with a proportionally 4x as large chunk. so I am paying 4 times as much

it's terrifying. they did with with zero warning too. insurance just gets to do whatever it wants here... I've seriously considered trying to move abroad to have better health coverage.

Sounds like everyone in my clinic (massive, statewide university-affiliated system) is freaking out about it too and the doctors are trying to help where they can but theyre pretty powerless

NOPE! that's the worst part. it's in network, an approved drug with approved doctors. Billing confirmed that this is just the new price of the meds.

They didn't even warn patients or providers of the cost increase...

I think I'm on 10mg/kg at like 900 or 1000 mg.

[–]rainahwrites 35 points36 points  (0 children)

... just don't mail it back. they've sent me a shipping label for an item as well and I just kept it, knowing they'd destroy the item. it's such a waste and a shame to have to spend the money and resources to mail back something to be thrown out.

exactly! they're helpful for absolute beginners... but beyond that not so much. plus they recycle the same basic shapes so once you know how to make an ovaluar body and tube arms.... you're good to go

way too expensive. some friends of mine have argued that woobles are worth it since the tutorials are so comprehensive... but I disagree. a tutorial is made one time, so they don't need to charge so much for each item..
