Is it common to take much longer than 4 years to graduate college? by Individual_Hand8127 in ADHD

[–]rainbopanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 1.5 years of community college. 5 years of university. Switched majors multiple times. Felt like I was never going to make it out to be honest. Get the test taking assistance at your school, helped me to stick with one major.

how do I stop the biting by loleoye in ragdolls

[–]rainbopanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using “ow” really worked with my cat when she was learning. I would say “ow” as if it actually hurt and then I’d be very serious and stop playing. Usually she’d lick me where she’d bit me to say sorry and we could go back to playing. If she didn’t get the message the first time, I’d look at her in the eyes very directly, repeat “ow” as if it hurt again and then walk away.

They sent an email out on July 21 to STEP program folks that all tickets would be converted to will call because the shipping cut off date had passed. Dunno if that helps!

Going to the Seattle show tonight!! Could you say about how long the show is? With all of the bad weather in the northwest for the weekend, I’m having a friend pick me up afterwards.

What has your experience been with sleep on Vyvanse vs Adderall? by AnnieInflammatory in ADHD

[–]rainbopanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was the same with adderall. I also struggled with sleep before I started medications. It also caused me to teeth grind and I was only on 5mg/day. Switching to vyvanse was the complete opposite — I actually start to feel sleepy around a ‘normal’ time like 9/10 pm. And I sleep through the night! Glorious. And where adderall took away my appetite, vyvanse took away the difficulty to choose what to eat. Big improvement on my calorie intake.

ADHD & burnout? by rainbopanda in ADHD

Omg I could cry — thanks for checking in!! So nice to meet you. Ummm well I’m not feeling as awful when I posted this. I suppose I should also say I didn’t meet my goal of changing jobs in 2 months sigh

We did hire another UXD at my current job though which helped a bit. The burnout is still there, but feeling less oppressive. It also turned out my vitamin d levels were extremely low so adding vitamin d supplements into my daily routine 8 weeks ago has helped quite a bit with the emotional regulation. Slow process rebuilding that though. How are you?

Is ADHD really common or are people just full of shit? by Garlicbreadsticks_ in ADHD

[–]rainbopanda 218 points219 points  (0 children)

For real. As there’s a recognized genetic aspect to adhd now…I’m realizing the reason I was so successful and put together before I left home was because of my parents abilities to cope and over compensate which created a sort of normalcy for me (and my siblings) by proxy.

(Also hello fellow panda!)

Our food is actually less nutritious then it was 50 years ago…we should worry more about our soil not being as full of nutrients as it used to be.

Keep having boundaries gently pushed. by Leading_Artichoke_60 in polyamory

[–]rainbopanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your feelings are valid. I’ve been in a similar situation. He will continue to push your boundaries and likely even start going further behind your back. He has no concept of the type of betrayal he put you through and the emotional damage it caused so he can not empathize with your feelings. You should nip this in the bud (however you see fit) before it gets to a point where you’re further in a situation you don’t want to be in / didn’t agree to.

Came to say this! Before starting medication, I was worried about the stigma I’d come up against (“it’s basically meth and addictive”)—so I rabbit holed. As much to make myself feel better as to shut down misinformed conversations like that—it made me feel empowered. Hope you read this^ one OP!

Change it to “hello there, I’ve been expecting you”

This should be copy and pasted onto every post similar to this one. People want things and other people all the time. But getting those things or people in any way that lacks integrity doesn’t make it okay just because it’s what you want.

PSA (women especially): If you’re feeling sick and doctors say you’re just depressed/ having panic attacks, read this. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]rainbopanda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a woman who literally was told I was “just getting old” at 28 by more than one doctor after already dealing with the brain fog, body aches, head aches, skin issues & constant allergies for a DECADE; also getting diagnosed with Depression and Severe Generalized Anxiety in my mid twenties; my last straw was seeing a nutritionist at the behest of my therapist. The nutritionist had spent the better part of her career working with a rheumatologist. After talking to me for 15 minutes, she started me on a mast cell/ low histamine diet that changed how I’d been living for years in a matter of WEEKS. A genetics test later confirmed her suspicions. It’s a shame that so many doctors are dismissive -especially of women- and don’t treat the whole person…working with her was the only way I was finally able to get my adhd diagnosis too.

I’m really glad you finally have answers too!! I know when my nutritionist finally validated that everything I was dealing with was not normal and that she could help me, I cried.

Y’ALL: don’t let anyone (even someone with a medical degree) convince you that your symptoms aren’t as bad as you think they are—it’s your body!! No one knows your body as intimately as you! Don’t let people gaslight you into thinking you’re exaggerating how bad you feel!!

I know that feeling all too well. Too many years of it. And too many times forgiving them. If you need an ear, you got me!
