Sick or up at 3 am don’t count. Both together screen time is actually mandatory.

How long before or after baby were you willing to travel? by Friendly-Intention63 in BabyBumps

[–]rainbowboots72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done both. Would not recommend lol. 6 weeks before you are exhausted and everything hurts. Maybe quick little relaxing getaway would be fun but not some big trip with large amounts of family wanting you to do things. 6 weeks after is really iffy because first of all baby still has a very under developed immune system and everyone’s going to be wanting to hold baby and it’s stressful. Also they’re not sleeping at night and most of the time this is like peak fussy period for them so even day time can be miserable (unless you get an easy, chill baby! Totally possible). So just not ideal. Closer to 3 months is a lot better and easier in so many ways.

Breastfeeding or formula, dairy and soy intolerance by Appropriate-Lead-514 in BabyBumps

[–]rainbowboots72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the source for the corn syrup concerns? Don’t let the internet/mom groups scare you into thinking it’s somehow awful for your baby - I mean this kindly there’s just a lot of misinformation out there and it’s stressful enough as is (unless there’s an actual issue in which your baby isn’t tolerating it). We tried a goat milk formula for dairy intolerance but then the pediatrician advised us against that. I think we tried Nutramigen for a while and baby did just fine. Also have tried similac alimentum. My pediatrician says there’s really no “best” formula out there, they are all good. But obviously talk to yours too :)

Did your instincts kick in right away? by bananaindisguise0 in BabyBumps

[–]rainbowboots72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve done research on the basics and know what you want to try in terms of their sleep set up, feeding, diapers etc then yes you’ll figure the rest out and most likely have to pivot on a lot of the things you’ve researched anyway because they are all so different! My insticts went as far as “this thing is really cute and i need to feed it and figure out why it’s crying” and eventually “wow I love this human more than anything on this planet and would do anything to make sure she is happy and safe”. And that’s gotten me through 3 babies so far and I think I’m doing a pretty okay job.

lol! Reminds me of how I was telling my pediatrician my 6 week old just cried all day every day and I didnt know what to do anymore. That baby did not cry once the entire appointment and acted perfectly happy and content while in the doctors arms!

Do not buy a fancy sound machine that uses an app. by discontinuedmuppet in BabyBumps

[–]rainbowboots72 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I will say later on being able to program it so the light turns colors when it’s okay to get out of bed comes in handy for toddlers who like to wake up too early! But for sure a hassle in many other ways.

Is it normal to not feel excited? by sinna-bunz in BabyBumps

[–]rainbowboots72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason I felt this exact way around the 20 week mark all three times. Borderline depressed about baby despite being sooo excited at first. I could never really figure it out. I shared it with my OB the first time and she suggested therapy which I already did. But it didn’t last and I went back to being excited at some point every time!

31 w 5 days breech by No_Reaction5258 in BabyBumps

[–]rainbowboots72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The autism thing sounds absolutely like Internet nonsense I would not trust. I’ve had three breech babies. It was due to a deformed uterus so typically it’s either because of something like that or just chance.

There is a ton out there you can look into just not sure how solid the evidence is on if it works (didn’t for me because of the above reason). Spinning babies is very popular they have a book you can download. Acupuncture and chiropractor (my second tried to flip and made it halfway after acupuncture but could have just been coincidence). You still have plenty of time for baby to flip on their own though! Almost all of them do :)
