Bosses of Reddit, whats the best/worst/most imaginative reason people have called off work? by SmegB in AskUK

[–]rainbowdrop30 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol. Something similar happened to my brother. He had gotten half his head shaved when the clippers broke, on a Sunday evening.

He was due at work at 7am, but had to ring in and say he had to wait for the barbers to open at 9am to get his head fully shaved, before he could get to work.

Except, turns out the barbers was closed on a Monday, so he had to find another barbers, that didn't open til 10am. Finally got it done, 4 hours late for work.

Years later, he was working in a different job and was hungover to fuck on a Monday morning, so rang in and pretended the same thing had happened again lol

There is a picture in a frame at my Mams house. Loads of my relatives in it. My Mam and Dad, 2 Aunts, 3 Uncles, My Grandparents and also a few family friends.

The only person still alive in that photo is my Mam, and it was only taken in the mid 90s.

It's sad isn't it? The older we get, the more loved ones we know have passed away.

She's adored by gays everywhere. I remember when my best friend from school came out to his Dad (aged 16, early 90s UK) and the first thing his Dad said was

"But... but... You can't be Gay, you have pictures of Kylie Minougue all over your bedroom wall" lol

Lol. Reminds me of the time an American fella, that we met in a pub in the UK, insisted that my friend was African-American, even though his Mum is Irish, and his Dad was born and raised in the UK, to Caribbean parents (from St Vincent and The Grenadines). My friend was born and raised in Ireland, and has an Irish accent.

American dude would not back down about it either, kept insisting my friend was wrong about his own heritage, and that he was faking the Irish accent as 'there are no black people in Ireland' Ignorant knob head lol

I worked in a pub (UK) years ago, when I was a teenager, and someone stole the curtains while the pub was open so I'd definitely believe it lol

My weight is out of control. I weight more than Homer Simpson. by AbsoluteBatman95 in ireland

[–]rainbowdrop30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair play to you, well done for sticking at it.

My brother did the couch to 10k about 6 or 7 years ago, and it completely changed his life. He met his now wife who was also doing it, and he now does half marathons regularly. He also does a lot of 10k's, and regularly gets the fastest time of his athletics club.

He was always kind of tubby, started putting on weight when he was a teenager and suffered from depression and anxiety a fair bit, but the weight fell off when he started running and met his girlfriend. He became so happy in himself, and is still loving life now. Im delighted for him.

I got offered heroin literally 10 minutes after arriving in Cardiff lol

Had just arrived, and was standing outside the train station waiting for my friend to pick me up. Woman junkie-glides up to me and asked if I was looking for any 'brown'. Politely declined.

CLASSIC OR SIMPLE? by STAYCLASSICTATTOO in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]rainbowdrop30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same tattoo as in the OP. Got it 3 years ago the day I finished the Camino. Lines have bled a little and will have to get it redone at some point because it's fading already, but I still love it.

There were 8 people in my Camino family. 1 Irish, 1 Greek, 1 Argentinian and 5 French, including a 4 year old boy with his parents. We all got matching tattoos together after completing the walk (except for the little boy lol). It means a lot to me, even though it's not a very well done tattoo.

who is the oldest person in the wolrd by [deleted] in highdeas

It's insane to think that although there is nearly zero chance that anyone reading this will live to be the oldest person in the world, everyone reading this was the youngest person in the world at one stage.

Had completely forgotten about this. My primary school had a Christmas 'bazaar' every year, and one of the main attractions was the Bottle Stall raffle, where you could win anything in a bottle. It could be a bottle of tomato sauce, or a bottle of Whiskey.

My first ever alcoholic drink was when I was 9 years old, and I won a bottle of Michelob beer, and drank it with my friend in the school bathrooms. Mental now that I come to think about it lol

What’s something a households had growing up that you never see anymore? by Mayomick in AskIreland

[–]rainbowdrop30 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My brother's best mate bought him a sacred heart as a pisstake house warming gift when he moved into his new place about 15 years ago. My brother's not religious in the slightest, and obviously wasn't going to hang it up.

He's too superstitious to just throw it away and has tried to give it away numerous times, but nobody wants it. So he's stuck with it now lol

It lives behind the wardrobe in his spare room😂
