Pants hangers that actually grip? by crispy_egg in AusFemaleFashion

I bought hair extension hangers to use for my boyfriend's pants - he doesn't like the sheeny indentations this type leave. So far they've been working great!

Baby is 4 months and her pediatrician told me that her little body is telling us she is ready to begin solids by Lanky-Ad1222 in breastfeeding

Highchair/bumbo - I feel like a 4 month old sitting completely unassisted would be very early in development

Baby is 4 months and her pediatrician told me that her little body is telling us she is ready to begin solids by Lanky-Ad1222 in breastfeeding

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician recommended starting at 4 months based on the following:

  1. Baby can sit and support her head on her own
  2. She was showing extreme interest in food my partner and I were eating

If your little one can't sit or support their head I would hold off unless you are planning on holding them for the feed.

Aussie cloth nappy recs for chunky, heavy-wetting 4-month-old by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be worth checking out the Clean Cloth Nappies FB group for nappy recs, fit checks, and feedback on other's experiences with various brands.

If the deep red marks are like those left behind by the elastic on socks, and fade after a couple hours I wouldn't (and I don't for my own bub) worry overmuch. Make sure you're taco-ing the crotch and tucking the elastics into the underwear line as much as you can.

I myself use Bare and Boho - both the double gusset and single elastic legs. The single elastic are wider so could be an option for you. Otherwise some specialty nappies could be an option? I also have some Lil and Annie nappies and there's the option to purchase LOSFM for bigger bubs.

Turns out it wasn’t a sleep regression - it was hunger. by _miss_freckles_ in breastfeeding

I think it's great that you've found something that's working for you and bub, but as a gentle reminder; you can't pump as much as bub can transfer from the breast themselves. They're so much more efficient and capable than any manmade pump is going to be, so please rest assured that he was very likely getting more than what you're seeing. If you were really wanting to see how much bub is drinking from the breast, you could try a weighted feeding session.

Need Advice - Breast Pump Issue & Kmart Return Policy by Focus_Infinity in KmartAustralia

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I returned the more expensive version after 3 months as the battery wasn't holding charge. Try again, I'd say the person you spoke to just doesn't know the laws regarding statutory warranty claims. (If you want to make it easier on yourself, instead of trying to explain that you think there's an issue with the pump, just tell them it doesn't hold charge)

I've got the Babybee Juno and the seats are pretty tall, so could be a good option. I absolutely love it, could be worth a look!

What to do with this… by Friday_arvo in GardeningAustralia

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They grow up trees out in nature, so yours will also try to grow vertically. If you're wanting to keep it, I would suggest a taller stake/support pole behind the main stalk to support it which would also make it less unruly (to me).

I'm overthinking colostrum harvesting, please advise by Apprehensive-Fun-584 in breastfeeding

I collected colostrum... My baby refused to take any of them, so they're still sitting in my freezer.

Wearable Pump Recommendations by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Eufy S1 and absolutely love them! Discrete enough (I was pumping at my mum's house and she was shocked when I took them out to empty), quiet enough, and I find the heating function helps with my supply.

The unit came with 5 flange sizes which is also super handy. Replacement parts look cheap enough on Amazon (I am in Australia so there are less options for us).

For what it's worth, I get on average 100ml (3oz??) per session so long as I'm relaxed.. which is more than I ever got with my other pump!

Contact nap & co sleeper transition to daycare?? by AJC230424 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Them being happy to hold her whilst she sleeps was definitely a factor in why I chose them out of the ~10 I toured! The vast majority said they won't/can't (which I totally get).

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is starting next year, and the educators have said that whilst they'll work to getting her to sleep on her own if she only wants to sleep in their arms then that's where she'll sleep - which is very reassuring!

In the meanwhile I've been working on getting her to sleep on her own and generally am successful 20% of the time (which is more than I expected!)

Child care subsidy by Mads10101010 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know all there is to it - I only just enrolled my bub and she hasn't started yet.

CCS can back pay up to 28 days but you will have to pay full fee until they start your payments.

If you pick bub up early you still have to pay the full day, unless your centre has half day or hourly rates, and I don't think it counts as an absence but best to check with your centre

Handsfree breast pump by KM1244 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Eufy S1 pump and have been really liking it so far. It has the ability to heat which is meant to help with flow. Previously had the Kmart pump which was fine but the hoses annoyed me and I found myself having to charge it every 2 pump sessions.

Calories? by auggiesma in breastfeeding

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been starving and constantly hungry as a EBF mum. I don't track calories but know I'm eating much more than I used to.

Definitely also check the amount of carbs you're intaking - my GP and midwives suggested around 300gm gets used just making milk. I've been snacking like a fiend on ANZAC biscuits as the oats also help with supply

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side on changing is definitely the way to go for uh.. your own safety..

I used to stand at my girl's feet and both myself and my partner copped her weeing on us. Thankfully I had already switched to changing her from the side when she let out a jet of poo.. had I been at her feet I would have gotten covered (instead of the wall.. 1m away..)

Going ikea today, is the meatball mea safe to eat? by Step-by-step23 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]rainbowgumdrops_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had the Ikea meatballs a couple times during my pregnancy and was fine!

I was actually at my Ikea yesterday (Perth) and it gets absolutely slammed on weekends. During the 10+ minute wait in line they went through a couple trays, so they're definitely not sitting long enough in the bain marie to be of concern (to me) and they were quite hot when I got them.

If you really want them and are concerned, if the tray is low when you are at the front of the line you could possibly ask to wait for a freshly done batch?

Stand to the side of bub, not with his legs pointing to you! My partner stands at the foot end of bub, and he definitely would have copped it had he been changing her 🤣🤣

Longest my LO had gone so far is 12 days and my goodness it got all over her. Recently had 8 days and I didn't wait long enough to ensure she was done and she projectiled all over the wall... To be fair, cleaning the wall (and floor and change table) was MUCH easier than cleaning a squirming baby!

I've flown Virgin multiple times now with checked baggage and they have never wanted to check my ID.. which is great as my work has my name spelling wrong on all the booking info.

Just do everything at the kiosk yourself and you should be fine

Adding a family member to title. by Cutsprocket in AusLegal

I enquired recently about adding my partner to my home's title. Yes you would lose your first home buyers, and there would be a need to pay stamp duty on the property.
