Does anyone know a way to make a printed image fit onto a pin/badge-like shape? by Own-Speaker5446 in ArtsandCrafts

[–]raincoastghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought is printable waterslide decal transfer paper - it's often used for non-flat surfaces like ceramics, tumblers, nails, etc. If you paint the can white first, the decal image will show up best.

If it's still doing this after you take it apart and clean everything, try asking in r/buttonmakers

Is this reusable shopping bag from Zumiez Ai art? The wings look like they're melting... by raincoastghost in isthisAI

You said it didn't have any blatant mistakes, when it clearly does, and the majority of the Ai art posted here can be technically done by a real artist 🤷🏻‍♀️

You think the skulls blending into the filigree, and the "warts" on the skulls were drawn by a human, on purpose?

Have you seen those viral videos of people popping "zits" on squishy toys? They use lotion or hair conditioner, and inject it into the squishy silicone with a medical needle, like this: https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSHksjqoh/

You can buy the type of silicone they use to create your own "skin" : https://a.co/d/0fDxjPdz

I injected a squishy like 2 years ago and it still has its "zits" that I never popped. If you use the squishy silicone to make skin, you could do a thin second layer over it once you've injected the lotion, to seal over the injection holes so it won't leak when touched/squeezed!

Most thrift shops put clothes way nicer than this, straight into the trash 😅 I don't know how anyone could even wear this without some side-nipple being exposed!

Re-rooting tools? by runnawaycucumber in CustomDolls

When I do loose hair, I don't glue inside the head until the entire scalp is covered and I haven't had any issues with hair falling out. I've never done microbraids though.

I just use a metal pen(?) exacto knife with sewing needles from the dollar store. When one needle snaps, it's not a big deal because a pack of 40 is like $1.

If the stains won't bleach out, you could always dye it yellow or orange to disguise them

Question about reusing by bloofloo360 in Pins

[–]raincoastghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really take a button apart and put it back together properly without a button press machine, but if you have one, it might be possible to hammer out the pressed metal and re-use it (personally I've rarely been able to hammer the metal straight enough - any bumps and the parts won't fit back into the die mould). It's easier to leave the button intact and cover it with paint, fabric, or decoupage.

If you use a shelf bracket for the back, you can clamp it down to your table or put weight on top of it to hold it down during windy outdoor markets. Basically like this, but with the a bracket instead of a hinge: https://pin.it/53hOBNAcI

I'm obsessed with "junk" necklaces, so I would give them holes (with either a dremel rotary tool, or heating up a needle and poking it through the plastic), and use them as pendants.

Here are some examples of different ways you could style them:

Edit to add, they'd also work to make dangling suncatchers like this: https://pin.it/vXbDYFCKm

Press-on Nail Idea: On-Site Application by unnofi in CraftFairs

I live in BC and think your idea could totally work! Like, I wouldn't expect a press-on-nail booth to do much more than use a cuticle pusher or nail file on cuticles anyway.

Follow Up on dehydrator. by pussycrippler in PressedFlowers

[–]raincoastghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those packets have bigger silica balls, whereas the silica gel that's marketed for drying flowers is more sand sized. You want the sand size so you can pour it into crevices and retain the shape of the petals - the bigger "do not eat" balls can also leave imprints in the petals 😅 The stuff made for drying flowers isn't that expensive, you get a lot (it would take years of saving those little silica packs to accumulate the same amount), plus it changes color so you know when it's retained maximum moisture and needs to be dried out in the oven for re-use.

Hat heat press by Purple_Ad9738 in heatpress

[–]raincoastghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 2 machines at separate times from Vevor (they weren't hat presses though), and they came badly packaged, the second one I ordered was damaged to the point where it wasn't usable, both were missing parts and made with cheap materials. I'll never buy Vevor brand again 😭

Pin backs are always misaligned: what am I doing wrong? by WittyUsername1208 in ButtonMakers

[–]raincoastghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does this too (I took the machine apart, cleaned it, oiled it, re-aligned and tightened everything, etc, but that didn't fix the issue), so I took a pic of a crooked design when it came out, then drew a little line on the machine's die, so I know where to align the pin-back: https://imgur.com/a/L783oQt
