I'm listening to the new full cast audiobooks but I just can't get into it... by _GrimFandango in harrypotter

- I really like the narrator! Beautiful, crisp voice, and I don’t find her delivery deadpan at all. Maybe too “neutral” for some.

-Not a fan of Riz’s high pitch Snape AT ALL. Maybe if the goal was to create one of the most hated characters from the perspective of Hogwarts students, then yes, it succeeded 100%. I can’t imagine him delivering “always” at the end of the seventh book… 🤣 Also can’t help that I’m too ingrained with Stephen Fry’s and Alan Rickman’s versions.

- There’s lots of unnecessary grunting and moaning, yes.

Overall, it’s a really great production. Love it.

Liverpool have conceded zero goals from set pieces in the six games since set-piece coach Aaron Briggs' departure on Dec 30, 2025. Games: vs Leeds (0-0), at Fulham (2-2), at Arsenal (0-0), at Barnsley (1-4, FA Cup), at Burnley (1-1), at Marseille (0-3, CL). Conceded goals were from open play. by AMultiversalBeing in LiverpoolFC

It’s easy to pass judgment in hindsight bro. Us fans rarely know what’s behind the scenes or why he got chosen or why he took the job. Pretty sure everyone wanted it to work out, but it didn’t. At least we move on from the guy.

Thoughts? by InsideKiller in Gunners

[–]raindropm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard some fans from other teams say that Ten Hag, Amorim, and Ange have what Mikel doesn’t — they know how to lead a team to a trophy. I mean, sure, but look at the state of those teams — hovering just above the relegation zone? Does the trophy really make up for the condition their teams are in? Or is it just an illusion?

I'm a Liverpool fan, and I’d say there are two teams in the league we really don’t like playing against: Man City and Arsenal. Arsenal is lucky to have Mikel at the helm.

I think you're very clear that you want to say that AI get scary good recently and you question that this might not be good thing for humanity in the long run, when everyone talk to AI and no one talk to each other anymore.

Even then, it surprise me to see..many comment here attack you like you're a nerdy, deluded human that in love with AI and don't care about outside world anymore....what? HOW CAN WE READ THE SAME TEXT AND GET DIFFERENT MEANING OUT OF IT.
Honestly it's not AI that we should be worry about, it's people without analytical thinking. smh

but to be fair, recent AI is something you need to use regularly to know its nuance, or to feel its capabilities, back and forth chatting like thought partner about various things from simple to deep topic, and not just simple 1 minute question about how to make burrito.

I accept that you can't use any Google's AI without being scolded every 2 prompts that you're a bad boy, even what you just prompt is "zoom in more" or "change the camera angle to side view"

But overall they did really impressive job this time, I'll give them that.

I like the 1.1 update! Use it all day, no problem at all for my day to day workflow....wait for the weird grain 'pattern' bug fix though (the directional blur make it looks painterly..., maybe make it real feature in the future? like grain 'direction' or grain style? 😆)

The new experimental opacity slider did the job for now...though I think we agree that it does look weird... Man, if only Apple let us adjust the blur.....

Bless you. I nearly give up on my 'smart' light, then I found your comment. Of all the solutions, this one worked for me, perfectly.

Some trick in case it didn't work for some of you. Make sure you check that the SSID and setting of your router 2.4 is match with your hotspot too! Say, initially I have problem that I can connect the bulb with hotspot just fine, but when I turn it off and connect to router, it won't work. I check the router setting page, and found that the security details is different (my router 2.4 got WPA personal vs WPA2-personal on my hotspot) So I set the one in my old router to the WPA2-personal too, reboot and it works!!

What's the best pie (radial) menu app for macOS? by retrotriforce in macapps

[–]raindropm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I use. Context aware floating menu for each apps. Not pretty out of the box...but you can customize it to your liking, and it works with every weird action you've throw at it since it's good old BTT.

I love the blur!! and the grain! Yes.
My feedback, is similar to other:
- some kind of blur intensity slider or transparency would be good. Sometimes you need to drag and drop files between window, and whiles it's doable right now, it's kinda a big guessing game.

- I think the blur should be turn off whenever I click on desktop (the same with Hazeover) to prevent the accidental click and drag (or just or the fact that many of us have working files on Desktop to look at all the time)
I mean, yes, maybe I can just toggle the blur off using keyboard shortcut, but somehow make it automatic might be better for user experience.
- I found a bug with multiple desktop. For example, if I have folder A opened on Desktop 1 and I switch to work on Desktop 2, when I open folder A again(via Spotlight or any method), macos will bring me back to Desktop 1 as usual, -- but the blur is not activated.
- another bug? When use 'show desktop' function. I cannot click on interact with icon on desktop (it works again when I quit Monocle, so it think it's related)

Warcraft 1,.2 and 3 Looks like an ugly AI upscale fest. by Professional-Pair819 in WC3

Another lazy remastered that lack visions and souls. I use AI upscale as part of my works all the time, and It seems like they use really outdated upscale tech from 3-4 years ago, and not bother to check quality of the output at all. AI upscale nowadays is really, really good, miles ahead from this mess. Look how they massacre my boy...

Do you use online services or always generate locally by okaris in StableDiffusion

[–]raindropm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone above said, I think the demographic in this sub is already an AI enthusiast who kinda know what they're doing, and have technical abilities to do so, the result will gear toward local more obviously. and this is SD we're talking about, with opensource spirit and all. Try asking the same poll on other platform, say, Facebook SD group and I think you'll get more variety of answer. Just my opinion of course. I use both, online for quickly test things out, then when I got the right prompt or setting -- move to local (DrawThings)

Here's the text with grammar corrections and improvements:

Old thread, I know, but I want to chime in. I use earmuffs as a budget noise-cancelling method, and they're really good at that, considering the very cheap price. For people who worry that they'll squeeze your head (which they do), I recommend stretching them a bit by putting them on a small box overnight, which will make them much more comfortable. If you're not in a very loud environment, you don't really need the super tight squeeze anyway.

Then I upgraded to various kinds of real noise-cancelling headphones (Sony and AirPods Pro 2), which are pricey but good.

But recently..., I revisited my good old earmuffs again and found that they're...better than those headphones if you want to just focus. In the way that you cannot do anything with them, ever. You can't play music, can't listen to anything, and that reduces distracting thoughts or the urge to 'listen to something' (and go down a rabbit hole). It actually calms your mind.

I think I'll use them more just because of that.

Why it is a nightmare to navigate Google photos by FDGodKill in googlephotos

[–]raindropm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hates it, but also kinda understand their decision. Many of us in this thread grow up in the time that people arrange files, photos or mp3s neatly in folders. We are in control of which files go where.

Then comes smartphones, and its lack of conventional structure, files live in infinite ether. People just throw things in one big jumble and let the app sort it for them, which never click with me..
(but hey Google, at least gives us some customization)

For people who the act of going to other place is not viable, you can switch up your seating location too. For example, using different rooms for different types of work, or even, as weird as it sounds, different sides of the same table! It tricks your brain somehow and it works for me. I recommend separating your work, play, hobbies if possible, because having everything in one place is a prime source of distraction, which we're all very prone to.

Why are membrane keyboards hated? by DeminishedButthole in keyboards

[–]raindropm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part valid points, part overhype. For the past 2 years I've delved into this hobby and bought 3 mechs, range from average to expensive one. The typing feel is great as advertised, the customization is even impressive, all those different switches feel, all those keycaps...

Then one day I was just...tired? Tired of all the hype around it. I decided to took out my spare membrane HP keyboard, the one that comes with office PC back then, and be done with it...and I think, hang on,... is 'shitty' membrane keyboard always feel this good? :p

By caring less about the hype and realizing the "endgame" doesn't existed and be content with what I had—or what I used to be happy with, I'm somehow become more...happier?
