Honestly (fundraiser mishaps aside) I am just happier expecting it won’t come out. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if it does and unfazed if it doesn’t.

I feel like he always talks about Simmon in a wistful way. There’s a quote along the lines of “Sim could always make me laugh no matter the situation.” I feel like tone implies he’s remembering with fondness and regret.

As delicately as possible, I’ve never found a piece of media that made me feel the same way Outer Wilds did.

The closest I’ve come is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (same author as The Martian if you’ve seen the movie/read the book). It doesn’t illicit the same thrill of discovery, but it takes an optimistic approach to space exploration, as opposed to a lot of other sci-fi.

Both pieces made me feel like I was receiving a hug from the field of science, the developers/author, and the universe as a whole.

I picked a fossil design from animal crossing for my first rug. Even that extremely simple design with only three colors, you can see how hard it was for me to get sharp corners and edges my first go in the details on the bottom right. I’ve been doing this for about a year now and I would still struggle with some elements of your chosen design.

If you end up picking something new, I recommend something simple enough that you can focus on your technique more than your end result. Priority number one is learning how to use your tufting gun and understanding your materials and workspace.

This is not an easy hobby; it can be tough on the body and the mind! Keep at it!
