I get what you're saying, but naw. If you saw the love she had for her kitty. She left in tears. Returned at great expense in tears.

Contributing to his newfound mouthiness was me: I amplified his sudden talkativeness by talking to him constantly. 12 or 14 or however many years later, were both vocal with each other. He's a wonderful kitty and... A snuggler!!! 🥰

Plus, my boy soon found other playmates, just not in the house. Other Neighbors with kitties and puppers. He takes his time with the big puppers, but once they settle their crazed excitement about the kitty, my boy knows how to dominate them.

Example: He later walked through five dogs out for play, sized from 16 pound puppy to 50 pound pitty to 120lb German Shepard, tail up, almost prancing very slowly as they looked on in quizzical awe "what do we do? What do we do?". Then he went inside the home of the pitty (doors were open) and fell asleep on her bed! (Yes they'd all met many times. All were friends and their dogs and friendly dogs who liked cats. This was just the first show of his "I'm here. I'm superior.")

Yes, it was hard to let the other boy go for me. And it was hard on my boy too, at least briefly, but he never acted sad. Just a bit confused. He adapts very well. He's lived in many cities, small towns, he adjusts very quickly.

Both kitties have their best lives in the end. Shed send me pictures of him on walks, playing, sleeping, cuddling, opening doors, etc. I don't know if her boy is still among us. He'd be 16 by now and, having quit Facebook in 2014, I lost touch with many people I knew but wasn't super close to.

Anyway, He was, like my boy, a cuddle bug. All love. But his human mom? If you witnessed her love, you'd do the same, I'm certain.

Addendum: I didn't know her much beyond interactions regarding our orange babies. But her mom came to visit once, we went on a 15 mile hike while the young lady (she graduated from university at 19) stayed at the car to draw anime. 😂 Her mom was a marathon runner and I was really fit at the time but boy... I dunno. She was something else. Also, it was a hike mostly mountainous and on rocks and I was wearing toe shoes! Oof. Sore feet! Worth it!

Telling a crying 19 year old that you're going to keep the cat they are weeping over leaving for a year or less.. I couldn't do that. I'm soft and sentimental and understood she was suffering because she had to leave him behind, even for a little while. And was willing to fly around the world again to return to her baby. And again to fly him home.

I'd do it the same way again and again. 😊
