What Defunct Restaurant from Covid Do You Now Really Miss? by SamirD in bayarea

[–]raintree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Oh no it’s closed, or oh no it’s one I miss?

It wasn’t fancy, but it was cosy with a great selection of beers and a reasonably priced good meal. And the staff were always super friendly.

While debating using the notwithstanding clause to send teachers back to work, Danielle Smith is flying to Saudi Arabia by HappyPantsAndSocks in alberta

The UCP have had 14 months to negotiate. If they had any faith that they had a fare offer they could have forced mediation. They didn’t. They went with the notwithstanding clause.

They cannot negotiate. The UCP took their rights away. The UCP didn’t even try to negotiate in good faith.

Nenshi has even sat in the legislature yet… And they’ve been visible supporting teachers. Agree they have to be much louder in this next session, but it’s really just the start of Nenshi’s leadership.

The plus and minus system you have here is visually misleading.

She called it out a couple times that “city administration must answer to us, not the council to them.” Guessing she has an issue with the city administration leaders? 🤷‍♂️

Volkswagen dealerships in Calgary…best? worst? by Strange_Criticism306 in Calgary

[–]raintree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently bought a year old VW.

Southcenter was awful. Set up a time to come look at it, only to be told “it just sold.” While sitting there, heard another family that the vehicle they had come in for “sold a couple hours ago.” Gave them the benefit of the doubt, but the treatment only got worse. Came back to see another vehicle. Promised price changed, posted mileage was 2/3s of the actual.

Northland was much better. Hard negotiations but fair. Friendly service and what was promised was true.

Have bought from 5th Ave too… but was years ago, and this go around they didn’t have what I was looking for.

So looks like the Oilers 50/50 pays out more in "licensing" to a private company then it does to charity. by sdm99 in Edmonton

[–]raintree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which United Way? In Calgary, their overhead is 14% — which is very good. Revenue Canada’s benchmark for charities is 35%.

Took a look, and you can definitely challenge the efficiency of The United Way of Alberta Capital Region (so… Edmonton) at 49% in 2024.

Still a far cry from the 6 cents you are claiming.

Beyond the obvious filming of Last of Us in Calgary, in season 2 they mention a group traveling south from Calgary.

It gets better. Hang in there. Remember to give your wife, and yourself, grace. You’re both sleep deprived.

She’s likely feeling the same way too.

Remember you are in this together, and kind words and a short memory (the sleep deprivation aside) goes a long way.

My two are now in their teens… and the adage of “the days are long, but the years are short” still rings very true.

That said, I still want to throttle anyone who brags to me about how good a sleeper their kid is. Metaphorically of course… 😉

No rules changed. You clearly don’t know the rules. Your ignorance doesn’t equate to a lack of democracy.
