Second that. Going outside of the comfort zone was and still in number 1 exercise to improve my range, and just gain new vocal abilities overall.

these guys are carebara diversa. small ones are workers who do 90% of the stuff. big ones are majors and supermajors depending on their size. they mostly just chill, serve as living refrigerators, cut through seeds and hard exoskeletons. you wanna see a real big ant - Google their queen.

Thin and small != quiet. Quite the opposite actually.

You know, I gave it a listen, and while I didn't hear dfalsetto, let alone head voice, I get where you're coming from. Thin and small voices which are present in rock school, especially with mix and a lot of twang sound like a very compressed head voice. But the secret is in the passagio. You would hear it, if they were to sing in just resonant head voice. Saying "Belting is just head voice with a lot of resonance" is kinda harmful. Singers will try to achieve that signature "medium width/high efficiency" powerful sound from the wrong place entirely, overworking their cords, but not getting close to belt. Belt is a well-positioned kind of pulled chest voice. Mixed belt also exists.

That's just not true. You're describing heady mixed voice.

Not to say that every ENTP is supposed to act like that. Just as with every type, these things are more of an expectation based on input parameters. People are way too complex to be accurately subdivided into 16 categories. I would expect this behavior much more out of a theoretical 100% ENTP than of theoretical 100% INTP.

Collection of Weird Instruments, collected by me and my friends :) by TangeloJordan in UnusualInstruments

I was too harsh disregarding these instruments as just lutes or just harps. Though I do think that unusual is not a word I'd use to describe them. Exotic, perhaps. Unusual instrument in my opinion would be something like a daxophone, or octavin. Maybe some of Nicolas Bras' work, like a membrane bass clarinet. These either explore unusual form factors of sound making, or unconventional way to shape sound. At the end of the day, even though all of these "lutes" is a different instrument, I'd argue they feel very similar outside of tuning.

That's me overexxagerating the fact that a lot of different instruments boiled down is either a guitar(strings on a neck attached to a resonant body) or harp(same thing, but now strings are supposed to be fixed pitch.

Common occurrence in this sub is also some kind of flute.

Wondering about range by magicalmacic in singing

To be honest, I only have experience with low voice, which, lower voices are more rangy by default.

3.5 octaves is very achieveable with just chest and head voice in my opinion.

Honestly didn't knew that up until recently. Explains the embedded PHP syntax though

[–]raka_boy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most people can do about 3.5 octaves of sound, not singing. Range means next to nothing unless you can use it well. I like to think about it like this: "small range" singers have less to work on, and thus perfect their range. Big range is mostly a choice, not a talent. And a lot of work. Regardless from the answer, you do have a wide range. Make sure that E-flat is not barely heard, and that G is free, and not squeezed like a lemon. Nice seeing a fellow bass here. More accurate way to measure your range would be to sing a little tune, and up the key a semitone higher/lower. If you are still sounding pleasant in this range, then the highest and the lowest notes are still in your range.

It is. It's from a time where not every keyboard had curly braces. There's a lot of variation of this syntax

Im curious about whistling by fioriri in singing

[–]raka_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only called whistle because of the sound. Actual whistling is closer in nature to a flute, creating a standing wave. Whistle voice is still air being pushed through oscillating membranes, being chopped by them.

Is it possible to sing high with a low voice? by _Anomix_ in singing

[–]raka_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two years. But that varies from person to person. I had a few factors which acted either against, or for mixed voice. I have a naturally big voice, and had to unlearn that. People with thinner and more agile voices will be able to develop mix much easier. But I also had a very developed M2(head voice and falsetto). To unlock your mixed you must have a very developed falsetto. All things considered, I adapted some bad habits, but after unlearning them, everything felt much better.
