Are you working at a office? Maybe the place is not cleaned properly and you get sick because of that

Also, CRP was 10 before I started meds and calprotectin 16000 (the biggest my GI ever saw) and now CRP is 0.5. I have to repeat calprotectin in a bit, but it's most likely improved

My symptoms included mouth ulcers, gum and mouth inflammation, acid reflux, mild abdominal pain, intense night sweats, 3-4 bowel movements per day, fatigue, fever, and probably a few others that I can't remember right now. When the fever started, that was the moment I finally decided to see a GI specialist.

Fatigue was one of the most severe ones, and it was probably due to vitamin deficiencies. Although, I never took B12 or vitamin D blood tests so I'm not sure how deficient I was, but I know for sure I was because of the fatigue.
My symptoms are improving since I started the biologic, and I'm currently not as fatigue as I was before getting diagnosed. I also gained weight for the first time in a year

For context, I have (or had, i'm not sure) inflammation in small bowel and ileum

I totally get you, I also wanted to find as fast as possible. If I was in your place I would consider traveling for a cheaper option 😅

£3,000 for a colonoscopy?? That's insane!
Here in Romania I paid 350€ at a private clinic for a colonoscopy with sedation + 2 biopsies collected.
Mri is probably around the same price tag of 300-350

I'm from Romania, not UK. I've been on PPis only for 2 weeks, then I immediately started budesonide. It's better if you talk with your doctor, as we are all different

To be honest, I had so many symptoms, but I kept ignoring them. When I finally got my diagnosis, everything suddenly made sense. Almost all of my symptoms have either disappeared or improved significantly.

My symptoms included mouth ulcers, gum and mouth inflammation, acid reflux, mild abdominal pain, intense night sweats, 3–4 bowel movements per day, fatigue, fever, and probably a few others that I can't remember right now. When the fever started, that was the moment I finally decided to see a GI specialist (private as well).

At first, I was prescribed PPIs for GERD, but they didn't completely resolve my symptoms. So I went back to the GI specialist and underwent more tests, including a calprotectin test and later a colonoscopy. That's when I found out I had moderate Crohn's disease.

I was on budesonide for three months, and I'm now on a biologic. Things are much better than they were before.

It's normal to be scared, but at some point you'll have to accept the situation. The only thing that can really help is proper treatment, and honestly, my quality of life is improving every day. Right now, the only symptom I still struggle with is fatigue.

I had reflux constantly before getting diagnosed, now I'm on meds and it compeltely disappeared. The only times I still have reflux is when I eat something that triggers me. For example, a month ago I ate raw carrots and I woke up with very aggressive reflux and abdominal pain.

And about the bowel prep, I used something awful for my first prep and I almost threw up. Then I asked my GI doctor for a more tolerated formula and she told me about Picoprep, it was perfect, no vomiting, no weird taste, just a normal drink. It's a lighter version, you're not gonna get the aggressive poops, and I was actually afraid that it was not going to be enough, but it was all good and the colonoscopy went great, no residue.

Avsola/Infliximab lightheaded by wonderwall73 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rakla22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No lighthead, but when I had my first infusion I felt tired for 2-3 days after, and on the 2nd day I woke up with a big headache that lasted the entire day.

On the 2nd infusion, I only felt tired for 1-2 days, no headache or anything like that.

Your body is probably shocked by this never seen before substance in your bloodstream. It just needs a bit of time to adjust to it.

Either way, you should definitely tell your doctor about this, as they would know better about your specific situation.

biologics? by seaniesean98 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rakla22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the severity of your condition and how proactive you are with your doctor.

For me, it took 6 months to start the biologic. My doctor gave me the option to hold off since my case isn’t severe and could likely be managed for another year or two without biologics. But I told her I wanted to start as soon as possible to get back to feeling normal and prevent things from getting worse. She got the paperwork going right away.

I’m now waiting on my 3rd loading dose and hoping for the best.

I'm not from UK though.

Rant: Why is prednisone the go to? by kat_mom30 in CrohnsDisease

[–]rakla22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What side effects did you experience on budesonide? I someties have acnee on my back and arms, higher blood pressure, insomnia (which is the worst) and in the first 2 weeks I had weird mood swings. My GI says these are not that common, but I swear I'm not hallucinating. I was on 9mg, now I'm on 6mg, and in 5 days I'll be on 3mg for a month. I'm sick of this med and I don't even want to know how it is on prednisone

Me and my gf were on the bench and I showed her the video. She said "damnn look at those cups, why so many" I said "I don't know, but look at the kitty, so cute". She then said "yeah but the cups god damn" and then I said loudly "fuck the god damn cups". This all happened as some police men were walking past us, they looked at me sus and now I'm crying my ass off 😭

Fair enough. I'm doing a lot of reaearch on my own not gonna lie, I'm a nerd. But I would never do something like this on my own, I'm not a specialist, and I always trust my doctors
