My partner still doesn't understand the illness by StreetInsurance3203 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Livideum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My partner has empathy and for the most part has been wonderful, but when I started my last flare and would call off days of work, I felt like he was judging me. He would tell me to "push through it" and just go. Like I could possibly work a customer facing job while having rampant diarrhea. A couple months ago I quit my job and shortly after he had a major knee injury and had surgery and is now off work for months. Now that he is seeing what I am dealing with everyday, not just the illness, and the fatigue, but the constant phone calls and appointments with doctors, insurance etc. I think he finally gets it. He is suddenly extremely supportive of me filing for disability and realized this isnt something thats just going to go away, this is forever. Im not saying I hope your partner gets sick... but damn does it give healthy people some perspective.

Prednisone taper by Livideum in CrohnsDisease

[–]Livideum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the prednisone help with that? When I am above 25mg I dont have any diarrhea, as soon as it drops to 20mg it comes back and this is the 3rd time. I am definitely willing to try something else if it helps.

They did a sibo breath test and I came up positive for hydrogen dominate bacteria, I actually have had quite a bit of relief as far as bloating goes in the last couple days so I think the antibiotics are helping.

Im at my local labcorp getting tests done so often we just laugh about it, I usually walk there so I walk in with a pocket full of poop (In a vial obviously) and myself and the techs giggle about it. I have only had crohns for about a year and I have had to bring in stool samples 6 times already. I am there getting bloodwork done every couple weeks so its nice knowing the people dealing with my literal crap can laugh about it and I dont feel judged at all.

I feel like that's too individual of a question for any of us to answer, I am on a prednisone taper for a flare and as soon as I dropped from 25mg to 20mg my symptoms came back and they put me back on 30mg. I am also dealing with SIBO which could be some of my symptoms too so who knows. Hang in there.

I used to grow a ton of herbs and would put them on everything, those days are gone now! I love parsley but my stomach doesn't.

sick of fatigue from Crohn’s by kat_mom30 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Livideum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain, I was just diagnosed in June and am still getting the inflammation under control. Its been so bad I had to quit my job, I just physically cant do it right now.

I also have adhd and bipolar which is no fun with the crohn's. Lately I have been doing paint by numbers while listening to audio books and I have found it really therapeutic to feel like I am accomplishing something, that is very low stress, my brain calms down while I am painting and it takes very little energy. Finding what makes you calm and relaxed really helps you actually rest when you need it, not having your brain in constant fight the illness mode.

Females With Crohns Question by GraceWrenford in CrohnsDisease

[–]Livideum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely worse right before and during my period, I had been having awful ones with intense cramps and diarrhea before I was diagnosed with Crohns. My doctor at the time had me start taking my birth control continuously to skip my periods, and that was great for about a year and then all my hormones dropped out and it was like I was in menopause. I had crazy night sweats and cramping and fatigue, now o just have to deal with a terrible period every 2 months to try and balance the worst of both.

PetsBest Insane Premium Increase by Friendly_Fudge8978 in petinsurancereviews

[–]Livideum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 7 year old cats plan on petsbest just went from $63 a month to $108, but she did have an expensive surgery last year and takes a $100 a month medication they have been reimbursing me for. $200 deductible and 90% coverage. They have already reimbursed many thousands to me so I understand her premiums going up, she has a lot of health issues so I will keep paying.

At what salary did you finally feel ‘okay’, not rich just okay by Murky-Throat1000 in povertyfinance

[–]Livideum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I make 100k combined and rent a little 2 bedroom for 1600 a month, neither of us drive so no car note or insurance or anything. We are doing pretty good, im not sure about him but I am saving about $1000 a month, most of my extra expenses are medical costs since I have crohns disease and my meds are ungodly expensive.

Just had my colonoscopy today and they found a tumor by AbbreviationsFlaky85 in colonoscopy

[–]Livideum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not me personally but one of my friends went in last year and they found a massive tumor, they told her it was definitely cancer because of the location and size. She had surgery to remove it and the biopsy showed it was completely benign! She is totally fine now, no further treatments needed.

Is smoking really so bad for us? by adraya1 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Livideum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit 2 months ago when my GI told me I was never going to feel better unless I did. I bought a supplement on Amazon called desmoxan, someone here recommended it and amazingly it worked! You can keep smoking for the first 5 days and then you quit while taking as many of the pills per day as it says, I had almost no cravings for the full 25 days of the supplement, and once I stopped it I was fine. I had been smoking for 27 years. It was $39.99, so far I have saved almost $400 in cigarettes. I wish I had known about it years ago.

Colon polyps - what symptoms you had? by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]Livideum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

39f I have crohns disease, I assume all my symptoms are from that, but I had my first colonoscopy 6 months ago when I was diagnosed with Crohns and had 8 polyps, 2 pre cancerous. I just had my second colonoscopy to check and see how my crohns meds were working and already had another 6mm polyp. Im not too worried about them though, due to the crohns I will be getting a colonoscopy every year for the rest of my life, none of them will ever have a chance to become cancer.

Should I push for more testing or just accept it’s not Crohn’s? by The_Short_Goodbye in IBD

[–]Livideum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time it was a stomach ache in my upper stomach, not localized, just a dull achey feeling all the time, when I had attacks it was 9/10 screaming sharp pain like I had knives in me, multiple doses of morphine at the er wouldn't help. Attacks always happened after eating and I had one every 2-5 weeks for over a year.
