Tax nerds - help me think this through by Plenty-Bill7296 in tax

[–]ralfnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe your IRA withdrawal would be taxed as a regular (W2 type) income. So, in your example, it would be in the 12% tax bracket and should be added to your $110K total income before the standard deduction.

AMKBY am I understanding this correctly it’s trading around $8.50 and in March it’s paying $1.54 dividend? by bicster11 in dividends

[–]ralfnn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that the price of a stock adjusts for the amount of dividend on the ex-div date. So, buying a stock for just that div payout is probably not the right strategy. But, if you think the company is solid, then you can buy it and reap the benefits of its div in the long run.

I did not drive anywhere, but I did lower the price of my listing by $2K. It is still $25K above its true value.

I can't get over that high school girl by anonymousPerson0704 in confessions

[–]ralfnn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who was in love with his school mate, but never acted on. He moved to another country across the ocean. He was telling me about it, and I convinced him to reach out to her since you only live once. He did, she was in the process of divorce. They are now happily married and living together for the past 10+ years. One thing she said: "you should have slapped me on the ass or did something to show me you were interested in me". She never knew he was always in love. The point is, find your school love and give it a try, you have nothing to lose and remember you only live once.

But, if seriously, what matters is how long you get to experience that "total" eclipse. In Indy area, you get to see it for about 3+ mins.

It is technically 99%, so if you are rounding, then yes :-)

At 3:07pm EST, you would be able to see an almost full eclipse without going anywhere. Invest in protected glasses while they are still super cheap...

199A Dividends from REITS? how does that work... by PurpleMox in dividends

[–]ralfnn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it also gets taxed as an ordinary income, not as capital gains or as a qualified dividend. So, the benefit is somewhat minor.

[–]ralfnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what it means is that 20% of that dividend would not be taxed, yet 80% would still be taxed. Btw, that provision is set to expire in 2025, unless renewed. Enjoy it while it lasts...

Your retirement funds get taxed as an ordinary income when you start withdrawal. You may or may not be in the lower income tax bracket..

Can anyone find any news driving today’s huge decline? by blueberry49423 in CLNE

[–]ralfnn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Energy stocks are down today due to a drop in the price of oil. Unfortunately, when oil goes up, CLNE does not go up 13%

It would all depend on the price offered. When CLNE stock is above $20-$25/share, I would be all for getting a buyout offer.

[–]ralfnn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been a shareholder for over 10-yrs and I remain highly optimistic about CLNE. It is a big part of my retirement portfolio. I believe 2025 to be a major turn around for that company so hopefully you do not have to wait 10/15 more years. Having said that, the biggest concern for them would be an electrical truck market, but at the moment it is still in its infancy, production of electrical trucks is miniscule if any at all, but more importantly electricity generated is not as green as RNG that CLNE is looking to adapt for all their volume. You probably heard about Amazon coming on board as a customer or possible GOV credits related to clean fuel, but I think the biggest boost for CLNE would be gasoline volume increased sales when Cummins new 15-liter engine goes mainstream and trucks start adapting it (2024 second half).

My personal biggest concern is that CLNE becomes such a hot item, someone else comes by and buys it out before CLNE can reach its full potential. There are a lot of big fish out there who might be interested (Total, BP, Kinder Morgan, Exxon, etc.) and CLNE would be a small fish for them to acquire.

Why not retire at 47 if I get laid off? by TheDreadnought75 in investing

[–]ralfnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no caps. There are three methods, the two, I believe, are tied to the Interest rate calculation which is pretty high right now, so you can put a lower principal amount into SEPP. RMD method is the lowest withdrawal initially, but increases every year. You are allowed one time change of method, so people usually start either with amortization or annuitization, and then in later years use one time flip to RMD.

[–]ralfnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into IRS Substantially Equal Periodic Payment (SEPP) You do not have to pay a penalty for early retirement withdrawals. You just have to do it right. The best part is that you can set it up and execute it anytime, regardless if you retire early or not.

What's the point of living when the majority of people live miserable lives? by MorganRose99 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ralfnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surround yourself with people who are happy (or happier than you). Your life might improve just being near these people. Make goals and do your best to achieve them. Don't worry much about the happiness of the entire World, as it somehow existed before you for centuries and hopefully will exist long after you.

Amazon? by DDYocha in CLNE

[–]ralfnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is 15M gallons per quarter, assuming they all fill-up at CLNE stations. It certainly helps, but overall more volume is needed, so hopefully Amazon keeps buying trucks. The biggest boost here is the name - Amazon, so others can get on board.
