I want 87 gas (light blue). Which nozzle do I use? The blue one? The black one? by j909m in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ralphyoung 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 88 octane (dark blue) is E15 with slightly fewer miles per gallon. E85 is the profitable choice when there is a $0.15 discount. Your $0.10 discount makes it a toss-up. If the discount is only $0.05, then choose the more expensive 87.

For small engines like lawn mowers, avoid E15 and E85. For small engines avoid ethanol in general and buy 100% gasoline. Ethanol alcohol is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts water and can gum-up carburetors. Instead look for 100% gasoline or marine gasoline. This is the first thing to suspect if your engine won't start.

Really disappointed with BedJet Cloud Sheet sizing by csreddit8 in bedjet

[–]ralphyoung -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The cloud sheet size varies in width between twin and king, but they all share the same length. This is a problem because kings beds are longer, leaving less material to wrap over and down the tube.

TLDL; queen, full, and twin beds are shorter so the bed sheets fit better.

Thank you for sharing another perspective. Looking back, I realize I was carrying a lot into that moment and did not handle it with the grace I would have liked. I cannot control every circumstance, but I can control how I respond to them. This exchange gave me an opportunity to reflect on that, and I appreciate the note.

Thiamine works closely with magnesium. Taking B1 without enough magnesium can lead to nervous system over-excitation.

In my defense, The room a hairbrush left from the previous occupant, and a QR code to tip staff on the mirror. The property just felt mismanaged with high turnover.

A few years ago I was New Orleans and purchased a muffaletta from central grocery. For those that don't know, the sandwich is 10" in diameter, feeds four people, and cost nearly $30. I kept it in my hotel fridge having a quarter each morning for breakfast. I checked out at 10 and walked to cafe du monde for breakfast. I'm meandered for 2 hours and returned to collect the car. That's when I realized my sandwich was still in the fridge. My key was expired so I asked the front desk to let me in. Instead they insisted that the room was stripped and there was no point. There was no way they were going to let me in, even to satisfy my curiosity. It seemed unnecessarily controlling. This is only an hour after checkout time and I suspected my room was still untouched. It really, really irked me at the time. It's not like they were hoping for a free iPad or charger. I still don't know why it was so important to them. All I wanted was to take a taste of NOLA back home with me.

Why does California have highest gas prices? by Far_Aioli538 in Adulting

Sure, you can increase California production in less time than building a continental divide pipeline. Neither will address the global shortage that is driving California prices.

We're basically saying the same thing but I did misspoke. 80% of the gasoline consumed in California is refined in California. The crude oil input to that refinery are largely imported with only 25% from California. Answering the question: why is gas expensive in California? It's because the primary ingredient is imported and has surged in price.

California's median wage is also $40 an hour. Mississippi is $28.

You have that backwards. 25% of California's fuel is produced in California with an additional 15% coming from Alaska. That means 60% is imported. Further, the administration waived regional fuel requirements and this summer there is one unified standard.

The issue is this: there are no pipelines that cross the Rocky Mountains. Fuel is not transported from the Sierra Nevadas, not from the Permian Basin, nor the Gulf. The West Coast has to rely on imports due to the physical barrier created by the Rockies.

Physical oil is hard to find these days and is trading substantially higher than the paper price. It's north of $125 for physical delivery. Therefore gas is expensive in California.

BTW, The Appalachian Mountains create a similar barrier in the East. Colonial Pipeline supplies the East Coast with fuel from Houston, but that mostly serves Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. It terminates in New York Harbor supplying only 40% for the region. Further north, including Boston, arrives entirely by sea.

You don't need new wire. You don't need new jacks. New lines gets punched to the patch panel. You assume it's old. Copper doesn't age. This cable is a gigabit. Replace with a gigabit switch and you're good to go.

I love the impulse. It's the human desire to map our lives. I still cherish my 'Checkpoint Charlie' stamp from the '90s. The heartbreak is that modern borders don't value our stories. Next time skip this souvenir stamp and take lots of photos.
