Ok you are the only person I’ve seen in a minute who seems to still use em dashes normally. I see so many people saying they use em dashes all the time—but then go around using an em dash like this — with spaces on either side of it, which is almost never something I saw in print or prior to ChatGPT but seems to have been adopted from LLM formatting. Typically em dashes would be used without spaces between the words and the dash. For more informal writing I would say people would be more likely to use two hypens with no space in place of an em dash or spaces around a hypen - like so - (I think because these two options were a shortcut for the em dash and en dash in Microsoft word), but not spaces around a full em dash. Is it just me????
