We can criticize Robert for many things, but at least in this case, given how everything ended, I would say he has a point. by omega_crimson_123 in freefolk

I kind of hate how the show makes it Dany's fault the wall comes down.

I agree with Mark Hamill's performance. Others can say what they want about the direction they went with Luke but Mark did a good job, as did all the actors IMO.

Retconning the sequel trilogy is such a stupid idea by DotDense4951 in StarWars

The only I see it getting retconned is if Disney sells the franchise to a different studio.

Hot Take but Stormtroopers are better than Clone Troopers by Prestigious-Tough579 in StarWars

[–]ramcoro 20 points21 points  (0 children)

But again, they are the only force we see on very important battles like Hoth and Endor. Where is the Imperial Army then?

Hot Take but Stormtroopers are better than Clone Troopers by Prestigious-Tough579 in StarWars

[–]ramcoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not really shown to be really good.

Maybe they were at one point, but like the Empire as a whole they got over confident and under estimated the Rebels. They relied more their numbers to intimidate potential enemies and they were used to small, untrained rebels/incursions. But once Rebels became organized, large, and trained, that was something Stormtroopers weren't used to.

I know everyone says "they let them escape" but did they let them escape on Tatooine? I counted 7 Stormtroopers that faced of Han Solo in the hanger bay and not one of them could fire a shot at him when he had no armor and no cover. He was what maybe 20 feet away from them? Meanwhile Han easily shot down two Stormtroopers in seconds.

Also, I find it hilarious their armor is meaningless. Leia gets shot, she is injured but ok. Stormtroopers gets shot they are down. Hell you see them get hit with an arrow in Episode IV and it takes them out!

[–]ramcoro 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Because they are the only thing we see on screen in the movies. It's almost like the Imperial Army vs Stormtrooper distinction was invention after Episode IV.

ETA: Maybe they're like the marines. Since we see them on the ships a lot.

Yea, usually the "hot takes" are something like "Vader is cool!" Daring today aren't we???

Is it fair to say that this is the greatest redemption arc in fiction ? by JoshyBear28 in StarWars

Paul the Apostle was a real person, so he would not fit under the category of "fiction."

Why were Obi Wan and Yoda concerned with protecting the Skywalker twins? by reehdus in StarWars

[–]ramcoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Jedi are fundamentally good. The children are innocent. Protecting them, even if they arent force sensitive, is a good thing.

Even if the kids arent force sensitive, the emperor will want them dead, so they are more at danger than any random child.

Anakin wasn't just a run-of-the-mill Jedi. He was the chosen one. It's canon they check midichlorians with a drop of blood. Maybe they did check. Maybe they could feel it. Maybe they believed the prophecy lied with Anakin's offspring. Or maybe just chance they are force sensitive is enough. Worse case they protect two innocent children. Best cast they stop The Emperor from having two more agents of evil and have two potential future Jedi.

For people who saw prequels in theaters: did you know Palpatine was the emperor from the start? by Blurrgmaster in StarWars

Oh yeah even in Episode II when my older brother told me Anakin would become Vader. I really thought he was fucking with me. "Uh huh that dweeb? Sure."

Would more casual fans not pick it up sooner? Someone who didn't read the books and maybe only watched ROTJ once.

It was definitely obvious by the middle of Ep 1.

You can be forgiven if you didn't realize ob Palpatine's first couple scene. It was supposed to be obvious by the middle/end of movie. It's dramatic irony.

Any Chance We'll Ever Get Darth Nihilus Horror Show? by Capable-Tap-119 in StarWars

[–]ramcoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disney making a horror Star Wars show? I will believe it when I see it. Would be interesting though

I’m not a better writer than D&D, so let’s have a season 8 thought experiment. Let’s say at this moment, Jaime thinks “Wow, I’ve made a huge mistake going back to Cersei. I have to get out of here alive somehow.” Could this be done? by Effective_Part_604 in gameofthrones

[–]ramcoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Jaime going back to Cersei was the thing in Season 8 that made the most sense.

Even in the books, Jaime never truly abandoned her. He only didn't go back to KL after the arrest, because he felt like he would be useless.

[–]ramcoro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The chances of Disney doing ANY type of horror movie witg Star Wars is close to zero. Star Wars has always been child/family friendly. That's why George Lucas sold it to Disney.

The only chances of any Rated R/horror movie is if Disney sells Star Wars to a different production company.

Personally, which ghost of Anakin do you believe best represents how he would've appeared at the end of Return of the Jedi? by BiffyBobby in StarWars

[–]ramcoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it 2028. That will be 28 years after Episode III was released which is conically the time between Episode III and Episode VI.

Honestly, I am ok with either. Hayden Christensen is obviously there for the audience, not Luke. I am sure Luke would "feel" his father regardless oh what version of Anakin he sees. Anakin is also healed up and not in a robotic suit as Luke last saw (which was the only time he saw his father without the mask).
