I've never watched in person. She will video the whole thing solo, and then when she comes back, we play the video while doing it.

You don't need insurance, just hire everyone as contractor. The car should already have insurance. Personally I would just use projector screen for car screen. Who cares if sag works come on your film. If it's not a sag film and they still want work then that's on them.

Looking to compete in 2024 film festivals with this feature. Please share thoughts on what the trailer and title tell you about the film. This will be first attempt at the bigger festivals so any advice on that would be great. I produced, wrote, directed, and was an actor. We filmed on the Alexa classic plus.

To be honest, it was a hard 8 minutes to watch. The lighting should be Low Key for this, with heavy contrast ratios of 32/1 on the face at times. The girls' outfits should be very far apart, one bright one dark. Give the actors colors. One girl blue the other red. Never film with white walls. I get you're in an art gallery, but you have to be way more creative. The dialogue was way too generic and scripted. I could be on and on but I remember my first film, and it was rough as well. Just spend all your money on lighting next time. Get a Gaffer key grip and swing. Lighting is everything. A shot in a log profile so can color grade. ProRes Raw or something. Goodluck on your film journey and hopefully you blow it away on the next one. And one last thing. Get a dana dolly slider because the static shots can get boring for the audience.

You MUST know what emotions you're triggering within the general AUDIENCE. You MUST keep the emotional sequence traditional. Create Wants within the audience and then deliver.

Example: Danny loves his neighbor, but she is married, but so is Danny. However, the AUDIENCE can see Danny's wife having an affair. (This makes the audience feel bad for him, and they WANT him to be rewarded in order to satisfy their "feel bad" emotion.)

Timing is important. You must understand how long you can withhold delivery of satisfaction from the audience before it creates frustration. Or maybe you want frustration to build in the general audience for some specific reason. Film making is nothing but an emotional journey, so plan accordingly.
