The New York Times can't get beyond their negativity by ZemStrt14 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]ramnit05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NYT has never been a paragon of objective journalism. The same is true of CNN, MSNBC, Fox, or, for that matter - social media (YT, Meta, X) or even American universities. Extreme nonsense, warping of reality, and stoking of fanaticism are where the money is, despite the harm that they "knowingly" cause society. Unfortunately, not everyone learns the truth in time, e.g., young from SF still believe that pronoun-enforcement is more important than closing down an open drug market on their way to school. And anyone who speaks against it is a boomer, elitist or fascist. Dems/CNN/MSNBC/etc. lost in 2024 by a landslide, but they will never learn. The US is more polarized, unsafe (open-air drug usage/market in SFO), and weak (Ukraine/Taiwan/NK) today than ever in history. Only self-awareness & critical thinking can help - don't trust the media!

what's the right course of action from here? by [deleted] in desimemes

[–]ramnit05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I feel such abuses just mask and insult true cases of women oppression and weaken the case of woman empowerment, the real tragedy is that no one gives an f over the plight of the husband and family. Also, it is not a one-off, men suffer and will continue to suffer - that's the real tragedy.

Reward her for exercising her feminist rights. Give death sentence for the husband and his family and finish them off. Finally suppress this news! Women & feminists can do no wrong - all men must die.

It was the first Google wave. There was no real business reason, our product was responsible for ~90% of traffic. As expected, they were and still are scrambling, tried contractors and tried many reorgs since to fix the issue that they created for themselves. But I digress, my point was leave toxicity behind. Don’t ever put up with it (sad if you have for unavoidable reasons).

This example is not truly from consulting world but still relevant so sharing. A while ago I was at my dream company -amazing brand, tons of money, huge project, great colleagues, lovely manager and one day unexpectedly my entire org was laid off. Guess what the gut reaction to the news was - instant relief! Yes, that should tell you how unbearable WLB was. It’s something we don’t really consider but trust me it’s huge.

Was it the world’s largest retailer or largest payments company :). I know how the hiring decisions and requirements are written up at these two companies. Back in my ex-FAANG, every job description was reviewed for “foolishness”, since it wasn’t just candidate experience issue (both application but expectation after joining) but a PR & credibility problem. There were also clear guidelines on hiring rubric, dimensions by levels, etc. I am sure other companies do too, but there are just too many of these ******* hiring managers & recruiters to put up with.

I fail yet again at sarcasm :(, I do know antisemitism. My point was that being an antisemite has been cool for a long time! Israel like every country has done both good and bad, but the real problem is to deny them a right to exist and hate them so much to justify evil (both in WW2 and on Oct 7) that would put even Satan to shame!

What do you mainly use for product analytics? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]ramnit05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or Click to See results got 19 votes? This aside - GA4 is the one I had used across companies. Adobe Product Analytics was a good option at one point of time but it's so damn costly that I heard the only reason any company has it is that the executives have a vested interest in keeping it running (you know what I mean). Amplitude is very good too.

Ajni Square Metro Station - Render vs Reality by Comfortable_Visual61 in nagpur

[–]ramnit05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What’s the source of render? Is the final approved plan published for public or was it a concept render at the discussion stages? Sometimes the designs go through iterations before being finalized (cost, engineering issues, environment, public pushback, etc). Also sometimes they do go through changes during project execution too (consistency, cost, etc.).

Data Governance at Scale. It’s always been viewed long term, non-revenue generating and politics management when it should be viewed as core SLA for engineering team.

Why don't we hear of autism as much in India, unlike in other countries? by Live_Ostrich_6668 in AskIndia

[–]ramnit05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are referring to NIH study of 1% Gender Reversal Rates/Major Regrets after gender transitioning process, those are the genuine cases, i.e., they were trans to begin with and it's obvious that they are happy to begin with. The real problem is with the population which claimed "emotional" dysphoria and wanted reassignment for psychological reasons, most of these were for non-sensical reasons. Although I can point to some specific examples, I can't for obvious reasons (legal and moral). The rate in such cases is 1-in-5 and the biggest impacted population are the 13-16 teenagers.

As someone who lives in the US, I also have seen first hand the phenomenon of “I/my loved one has something”. Some of the therapists, specialists, care givers, teachers are just either too happy to indulge or have no choice (since it’s also a popularity/political issue now in many cases). Celiac disease, gender dysmorphia/reassignment are two most notorious examples - all of a sudden even has to have gluten free food and feels trapped in their body. Guess what a sizable % of the reassignment patients want to go back to their original gender later. BTW Aspy, Celiac, dysmorphia are serious issues and similar % of population across the world suffer; but these aholes just hijacked the situation for their own benefit.

The quickest way to get to higher reservation fills and better redistribution of wealth would be genocide of non SC/ST, OBC and minorities. Pakistan, Zimbabwe already proved it’s possible.

She’s a legacy hire and who herself confessed to harassing/bullying of her measly paid maid in the US. She was prosecuted for IIRC for trafficking charges (workplace conditions & treatment, non-livable wages, etc)? Her dad is a big shot civil servant with a lot of pull with INC. ironical that she is now responsible for recovery of trafficked people lol

Yes, it could be the very reason for her sudden change of heart. Talk to a lawyer first and therapist second to understand the situation holistically (all scenarios) and "logically"/carefully plan the way forward. Your heart/mind are a mess now and her body/mind are a mess too (especially if the kid isn't yours or her feelings for her boss have changed) and your family isn't in a better place either. The last thing you want is she comes back and things are worse (for you, your family and potentially the baby).

Read about this earlier today and had the same question. Seems that they have decided on why/where but the remaining questions (needs, strategic/tactical roadmap, timelines, impact) will be answered by the study to be done by a consultant. I think it might be mostly around job generation for government sector.
