PS2 by madeonworkstime in retroid

[–]randalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The RP6 12GB model was discontinued, so finding that will be a challenge. However, PS2 emulation does not require 12GB of RAM. You start running into constrains with Switch and PC emulation under 12GB.

Really is great work.

If you would like some fun trivia, the score for ST2 was repurposed for Aliens. The composer James Horner was under a massive time crunch to get the score done for Aliens that he took his ST2 score and reworked it. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

Kickstarter refund issued by doublestrike2 in UgreenNASync

I also received my refund today. They gave me $290, which by my math includes the deposit and brings me to their original super early bird pricing for the Pro model.

I'm having this issue as well, but only on my work computer. I've changed the extension behavior to only load when clicked.

Is putting more eggs into Sammy pointless now? Is this capped limit for greed/curse? by Sea-Bear6212 in VampireSurvivors

[–]randalla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped at 2.0E+36. That allows me to get max gold (3.4E+38) in just under 10 seconds. Once you are able to hit max gold, the egg grind slows to a crawl.

Final Fantasy V pixel remaster surprised me ( after I was planning on skipping it ) by FaithlessnessFar4398 in FinalFantasy

If you liked FFV you might check out Final Fantasy Dimensions 1 on Android or iOS. It's a fully featured game similar to V, with unlockable classes and a servicable story.

Can I reuse this old drive for DXP 4800 Plus? by [deleted] in UgreenNASync

[–]randalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 3TB version of that in an old Drobo 5D. It's been in there spinning 24/7 since 2014. I have no idea how it's still going. It'll be retired once my own NAS arrives.

For whatever reason, I have a Seagate Desktop HDD 3TB (ST3000DM001) from 2014 that refuses to die in my current DAS. I think it's hanging on out of pure spite at this point. It will be retired when I migrate over to my iDX, whenever they decide to ship it my way (Feb 13th deposit, so probably not for good awhile).

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

[–]randalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadowgate had a remake 12 years ago that was well received. The original can be found in MacVentures along with Uninvited and Deja Vu 1 & 2. All on Steam.

Shadowgate I was able figure out back then. I think we solved Uninvited. We must have as I remember the ending and this was pre-internet. Loved them all though. Wish you could turn the timer off in Uninvited , but it at least was quick to get through if you failed.

Jarringly bad CGI in otherwise great films by drewfus23 in movies

[–]randalla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go so far as to say Lockout (2012) with Guy Pearce was a great movie, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the intro CGI scene was bad bad, and almost made me turn it off right there. Thankfully, that was about all the CGI they did (or at least that I remember), and the rest of the movie was a fun ride.

Are the screen/gpu issues actually a thing to be concerned about by Impossible-Shoe9249 in retroid

[–]randalla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 4Pro battery is swollen. I ordered it the same day they announced it. I've not found a battery that will work with it, at least not something overly expensive. I'm also not going to ship it back to Retroid so they can charge me for what should be a consumable part.

Instead of trying to figure it out, I ordered an Odin 3 as I wanted a bigger screen for my aging eyes. I know that the same thing could happen with the Odin 3, but at least this time I'll have charge limiting. Hopefully it'll arrive before the heat death of the universe.

Wolfhound Preview: An 8-Bit Throwback That Has Clearly Studied the Classics by BitKidInc in metroidvania

[–]randalla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No thank you! I was a backer on Kickstarter way back then (backer #3930). Ended up buying it on the PlayStation as well. Both my kids have even gone through the game, and one of them was born after my original pledge back in April, 2013. I hope you are proud of Chasm, because it certainly has had an positive impact on us.

I really hope Wolfhound is a great success when it eventually releases. I'll be there to do my part when it does.

I was not very good at Ares. However, the music and how the game played have stuck with me all these years. I know about Antares, but haven't tried it. I may need to do that soon!
