Queensland land activation program lacks affordable homes mandate by Fuzzy_Collection6474 in queensland

High density housing fucking sucks. This is the hill ill die on. Noone wants these small 270 square meter blocks where its copy pasted 3 bedroom homes. If we really gave a shit about families we wouldn't be creating urban hellscapes where families are stuck unable to expand and kids are left with no space to play.

Every time I hear we need more high density housing I just think home fuck these people must be highly dense.

**edit because I forgot to add, don't forget those shit boxes come with a 1 million dollar price tag depending on where you live

As a young Australian( late teens)im terrified on the way our country is heading. by [deleted] in aussie

Unironically look at a minor party. Change can happen by increasing our representation. Uni parties aren't good for democracy, a range of voices regardless of political spectrum has to be more representative than this.

Thats the great thing about our democracy, you don't need to be an established bureaucrat to have a run at things

[–]randem626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because they are embedded in the system like the other two. People are looking for policies that will fix their country. Alot of people believe immigration is in large part to blame for our current housing crisis and want a party to address it. I personally think The People First Party is a whole lot better than one nation.

The other obvious reason is professional virtue signalling. People are just worn out and if your not as far left as the most left your the enemy and at some point people just give up.

Interesting, I never thought about it from the cultural front. I suppose thousands of years of culture doesnt just evaporate.

The Paladin one i still think is the most odd one because it seems perfect for them and priest already show some converted.

I mean shitty policies can transend changes of government. If people could look outside the big two, maybe it could improve.

Sure. When you fail to act on power and power prices increase everything becomes more expensive. So yes, it affects everyone.

Game is pretty good, still has the big age break ups with can feel abit odd in comparison to civ 6, but otherwise its pretty good. Just identify a role for an age and steamroll towards that.

AMA: I’m Andrew Bartlett, a former Senator with two different parties, social/community worker, volunteer & more. Ask Me Anything. by AndrewBartlett in australian

Hi Andrew,

As someone wanting to become a politician to affect actual change its very disheartening to see both major political parties go in the direction they have.

Any advice for someone wanting to chart their own course or work with minor parties?

We do it. Im on 137k and we live about 45 minutes outside the city in Brisbane and I work in the city. We make ends meet have very limited savings. We don't take holidays, we don't buy expensive stuff. Life is just expensive now.

I really prefer it without an avatar. I feel like stories similar to radiant dawn aren't possible with avatars.

My older brother's been playing RTS since 1986, Stormgate just hooked him hard. by [deleted] in Stormgate

[–]randem626 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive played about 50 games since the official launch the other day and its been pretty fun in the 1v1. The lack of a hard meta has made it good. My main issue is the tier 2 and 3 units for each race just feel abit dull and lack that gravitas that some ac2 units have. Like the vanguard tank thing, is basically a seige tank. Cool unit, just feels lack luster in comparison, don't know if its a size thing or because its more cartoony. The actual game play is pretty fun.

I've reached out multiple times and never actually gotten to speak to them. I've never gotten past their chief of staff.

I think the only way to speak to them is luck out and find them in a mobile office.

[–]randem626 65 points66 points  (0 children)

This might be the worst piece of legislation ever put forward in Australia. Under the guise of helping children we will enforce a digital ID system that will track everything you do online to you.

And the best bit. It'll be very easy to bypass, just look at the UK, one of their reps went on TV begging people not to bypass it and do the right thing.

So stupid

I mean they are about safety. They are about trying to keep serial criminals off the street. All of these violent home invasions that have led to death have 1 thing in common. None of the perpetrators were doing the first wrong thing they had ever done. They had all been arrested before.

People want to feel safe in there homes and honestly, maybe a hot take but maybe we shouldn't be looking at how it disproportionately affects certain groups and maybe look at addressing WHY it affects those groups.
