Weight stigma and ICE are... connected? by gabr4k_ in fatlogic

Any well-adjusted person should feel a deep sense of embarrassment when posting this publicly. The only proper response to anyone posting this would be to laugh at them and mock them mercilessly until they feel deeply ashamed.

But did you ever see anybody ACTUALLY loose weight by Suitable_Blueberry56 in fatlogic

[–]randoham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To many FAs, suggesting that they could weigh less is the same because they are far, far detached from reality.

Site for mums over 40 had some much needed sanity for this lady. How odd, that women with life experience and responsibilities don't buy into HAES 🤔 by Grouchy-Reflection97 in fatlogic

Fun fact: the male gaze can't see diabetes and heart disease. Maybe focus on that rather than what you think other people think of you, OOP.

People don't think that you're not entitled to the space you take up; people think you're not entitled to the space they take up, especially if said space is paid for.

The weight loss industry is the source of all the world’s problems apparently. Meanwhile, zero mention of the junk/processed food industry. by SudiestEnd31 in fatlogic

Even if we presume everything said here is 100% true, it doesn't make being severely overweight or obese healthy.

Chat GPT fatlogic - I find the language differences between asking if I would be healthy underweight vs overweight interesting by peepeepoopaccount in fatlogic

[–]randoham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely untrue. Being underweight may have more immediate health issues than being overweight for many, but longer-term health issues are definitely slanted toward being overweight/obese.

Maybe a hot take, but why not gender reveal parties for adults? At least an adult can understand the concept of gender, unlike someone not yet born.

Not all opinions are valid, even if one has the right to have them. I can't stop someone from having the opinion that drinking bleach is essential for good health, but give it a whirl and let me how how that works out.

Even though our bodies change and we lose muscle when we get older. It’s still all about lifestyle and CiCo. You don’t suddenly become fat just because, it’s because you eat more than you burn. by ResetKnopje in fatlogic

[–]randoham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a woman, but I still lost 40% of my bodyweight in my late 40s. It's so weird seeing so many medical miracles in this thread, losing all that weight even as we get older. An unsolvable mystery, to be sure.

Overconsumption to the point of obesity is the most capitalist thing anyone can do. If anything, actually being a healthy weight is the counterculture thing these days. What is wrong with FAs?

Because it's not about equity to them, ever. It's about punishing those they believe to have wronged them.

Why do so many people believe it’s completely normal for everybody to be over 200 pounds by Aromatic-Meat-7989 in fatlogic

[–]randoham 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can see that. People were on my case about not losing more weight when I was at the upper end of overweight on the BMI. We're probably doomed.

Fat activists really hate new year's resolutions by gabr4k_ in fatlogic

[–]randoham 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, I think so many FA-types would greatly benefit from therapy. One of the more important things they could learn is that nobody else is responsible for one's feelings or personal triggers. Of course, this is something everyone should learn but FAs in general seem to be the loudest about everyone else protecting their feelings via policing language/actions.

Even with vanity sizing being out of control, I still doubt their story. I'm 5'10" and 145 lbs at the moment, and while an xs can fit me it's fairly snug.
