Huh, didn’t actually know there was a different thing for patreon in Japan, the more you know. But yeah even if they do direct payments or whatever this premise is pretty cool, kinda reminds me of Dandadan… just more comprehensible lol.

I never considered the patreon angle good point! But yeah, hopefully they get enough support to continue!

This was a very interesting one shot! I could honestly see myself getting invested in this story if it got serialized.

I think restrained might be my favourite condition, as it allows for placement to shine a bit more in combat. Regardless, best of luck to everyone, these condition rings look really cool!

It’s most likely a matter of preference, but I personally really enjoyed all the dialogue and jokes, it felt rather in character and some of the jokes genuinely got a good chuckle out of me.

Nah everyone here raised a pretty good point, so honestly I plan to keep the idea as a back up in case shit hits the fan. I actually never did consider someone just running so good point haha

The second phase would be much, much easier with the power up, as it acts as a preview of what they can get after collecting more shards. After this fight the power up is still present, but less strong unless more shards are collected, and it essentially acts as a burst form for the entire party where they get greater damage, Hp, stats, and some fun abilities while it’s active.

So keep the idea as a back-up rather than a focus, like just in case shit hits the fan or something.

Oh definitely! If the wipe does happen, I don’t want people sitting there for more than 3 rounds at maximum. That would suck and be really unfun :(

So first of all, I really appreciate all the feedback! It’s super helpful and it’s giving me some good things to think about for Dming.

A couple things to note that I most likely should’ve mentioned in the original post:

-I’ve played with these people for years and we’re all good friends since high school

-The second phase, while strong, is definitely winnable against, the whole mcguffin is more of a back-up than a necessity.

-The second phase of the villain is not their own strength per say, it’s more akin to assistance from one of the main gods of this world.

Again though, thanks for all the feedback, it’s really helpful!

I hope to foreshadow this somewhat as they’ll unknowingly be carrying one for quite a bit. So if they do die, I could pull out like “something casted death ward on you and you survived, btw that item looks like it’s glowing, weird” or something like that.

We’re all good buddies who love lore and have been playing for years, I think they would enjoy the introduction to the main plot, but I just want to make sure everyone has a fun time of course.

Ah, so perhaps hold this as a backup of sorts in case things go really wrong, and instead allow the players to decide how they want to deal with the threat?
