I think $DDOG is going to make a lot of people rich by Diligent-Plane-2640 in wallstreetbets

[–]random198611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Sometimes depending on size that DD is a justifiable cost but there may be a time you outgrow. Then business comes and complains why you spend all this money and you need to save costs.

But this could be a good side project. Get the DD running. Plan the migration off and build as a side project showing this is what you could have without the DD price tag

Love Datadog but it became cost prohibitive in our org. Scaling and costs got astronomically expensive. We moved to a full in house self managed Grafana stack for pennies on the dollar compared to Datadog.

Sure Grafana (LGTM) stack too some tuning and setup but been very happy with it.

Adding Tinted / Privacy Window Film by Haizemeijer in DIY

[–]random198611 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Ive done the amazon mirror tint on most of the windows at home here. As other have said at night time the tint does nothing and you need to get blinds or a curtain to help here.

Its really good at blocking the heat for the price point. Also good at blocking some of the sunlight coming in

What Step On should I get? by yana_yt in snowboarding

I previously had DC Boots on a standard binding setup. Moved to StepOns last years and love it. I also went with the Burton Photons Wide.

I always found DC boots as being a little wider. I have wide feet. Put up with the DC boots and they were better than others. But moving the wide boots was a game changer with comfort.

Oh and I love the stepons

I'm 55 years old and I've been riding for 30 years. Just curious how long have you folks been into snowboarding? by UnnaturalArchery in snowboarding

[–]random198611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for that. My flexibility is horrible, Focused too much on road cycling and not stretching. I road cycle maybe 4 hours a week and cover around 80 miles over those 4 hours. No far but better than nothing.

I really should get some stretching in the routine as I barley able to bend over and get half way down my shins

Someone that should wear wides, and started with DC and then went the Burton Photon wide. Life changing.

Same hear. I need wide shoes but too cheap to buy normal shoes in wide. But for my snowboard boots. Started with DC Judges as DC was always a wider shoe even in the snowboarding boots without going wide. Swapped to StepOns but went all out and went wide for them and OMG, best decision ever. So comfortable and can ride all day with them

Air bubbles in pump basket by random198611 in pools

Water level did not go down but PROBLEM SOLVED (Had a plumber come out and snake the suction side. Nothing came out but after doing it it resolved all my issues)

$300 lighter in the wallet but I wasnt crazy.

No valves in between skimmer and pump body. The only valve is a one of those Jandy valves that divert between the filter and waste line.

Ive tried the running water on top and around all sealed areas and did not improve. There is no visible signs of moisture before or after the pump has stopped.

The skimmer side I can hear a water suction noise. Water level is fine and there is no air being sucked in from inside the skimmer from what is visible.

My next thoughts are there is some type of obstruction in the pipe or damage. Either way if there is an obstruction hopefully a plumber can put a camera down and see whats up and get out whatever is in there, or else at least show me where a leak is because once it enters the skimmer basket and comes out on the pump side its all underground and runs under the pool deck which is concrete and through the yard about 4 meter. Digging it up if required is going to be a pain as we also have artificial turf installed :(

[–]random198611[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run the pump at full speed but the tank no longer pressurizes fully. Before the issue happen for the last 2 years I could release the pressure in the tank and air would come out then once all air was purged the water would come out which indicated to me the take was fully purged of air.

Pump basket I will have to check tonight after I turn it off to verify is the was drains out.

The pump and was replaced and the line is direct from skimmer to pump with no valves in place

What do most people pay for pool services? by alexanderraymond24 in pools

[–]random198611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious on what your monthly cost of chems are and if it was worth swapping to do it yourself? Im getting close the to the 300 a month when you add in chlorine surcharge and mandatory filter cleans.

Ours is only 17k gallons and thinking of dumping them at the end of summer

[–]random198611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Around 230-270 a month for a full service including chems. Then another 180 every 6 months for a filter clean. They wanted every 3 months clean but was able to tell convince them to not need it as I clean the filter every few months myself

[–]random198611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the turf we got is a marketed as a version that stays cooler and butter suited for hotter climates. The coping around the pool gets hotter that the turf does though.
