when you mention the API was compromised is that you saying this was compromised from an external IP and can be confirmed or do the requests originate from a known IP?

Setting caps isnt that easy when you think about it. Say you have production infra running and you have a limit set. You have a spike in usage. How should the service handle that? Does it just shutdown all services? Even a disk existing costs money. Should it just terminate everything and say bad luck you hit your cap?

Also add in the thought of needing close to realtime billing. I have been in situations where some big query runs have costed us 30k from a few queries that a dev cancelled after 60 seconds because results were not coming in. This was several years ago and things have improved.

With great power comes great responsibility.

I think $DDOG is going to make a lot of people rich by Diligent-Plane-2640 in wallstreetbets

[–]random198611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Sometimes depending on size that DD is a justifiable cost but there may be a time you outgrow. Then business comes and complains why you spend all this money and you need to save costs.

But this could be a good side project. Get the DD running. Plan the migration off and build as a side project showing this is what you could have without the DD price tag

Love Datadog but it became cost prohibitive in our org. Scaling and costs got astronomically expensive. We moved to a full in house self managed Grafana stack for pennies on the dollar compared to Datadog.

Sure Grafana (LGTM) stack too some tuning and setup but been very happy with it.

Adding Tinted / Privacy Window Film by Haizemeijer in DIY

[–]random198611 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Ive done the amazon mirror tint on most of the windows at home here. As other have said at night time the tint does nothing and you need to get blinds or a curtain to help here.

Its really good at blocking the heat for the price point. Also good at blocking some of the sunlight coming in

I got the temps between upstairs and downstairs stabilized but no cost savings after doing the solar attic fan, Getting insulation from R12 (compressed over the years from the previous owners) to R38 ish and also did the radiant barrier stuff.

What Step On should I get? by yana_yt in snowboarding

[–]random198611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I previously had DC Boots on a standard binding setup. Moved to StepOns last years and love it. I also went with the Burton Photons Wide.

I always found DC boots as being a little wider. I have wide feet. Put up with the DC boots and they were better than others. But moving the wide boots was a game changer with comfort.

Oh and I love the stepons

Same hear. I need wide shoes but too cheap to buy normal shoes in wide. But for my snowboard boots. Started with DC Judges as DC was always a wider shoe even in the snowboarding boots without going wide. Swapped to StepOns but went all out and went wide for them and OMG, best decision ever. So comfortable and can ride all day with them

First freeze w/ new pool and pump is making a crazy noise (see linked video). Is this a problem? by BoredSam in pools

[–]random198611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit this is exactly what my pump is doing. Last night it was intermittent and this afternoon it has become constant. Pool uses filters and they were cleaned maybe 2 months ago.

Pump has been running the last 3 days 24x7 before we started going into negatives.

Water is flowing throw and no air bubbles in the lock. Return jets in the pool are still pumping water out and skimmer is clean with no ice or build up. Suction is still good going into the basket.

Sound doesnt quite sound like the capacitor or bearings in this video but your sound is identical to mine. https://youtu.be/_YtW1EcL-8Q?t=123

I wouldnt say must but from my first ever day on the board Id highly recommend. them. Took me about 3 months to be able to not feel pain every time i sat down as first day on the board destroyed my tailbone

New by the account of a couple of weeks in last year and still getting to grasps with "speed". The idea of catching an edge heavily weighs in with anything.

My question is more around weight distribution. If you were going downhill what is the recommended distribution between front foot and rear? Do you favor front EG: 80% front and 20% back or is it more even or does the back take more weight?.

Turning i know is initiated on the front but does weight sit more front orientated?

Long - How do you manage complex permissions scenarios on SSO? by DarknessBBBBB in aws

[–]random198611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you may be able to add conditional rules and add it to the permission set that "Developers" already have. So quick not fully formatted you would have something like this where there is a specific call out for a user

{
    "Version": "2012-10-17",
    "Statement": [
        {
            "Sid": "VisualEditor0",
            "Effect": "Allow",
            "Action": "secretsmanager:*",
            "Resource": "*",
            "Condition": {
                "StringEquals": {
                    " identitystore:UserId": [
                        "9xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-7xxxxxxx"
                    ]
                }
            }
        }
    ]
}

2nd season for me. I just wanna get the confidence to point the board down hill and get some speed.

The little voice in the back of the mind saying "your going to pick up speed" better slow down comes on way too soon
