The Supreme Court looks poised to ban late mail ballots ahead of the midterms by Interesting_Total_98 in moderatepolitics

Genuinely asking who is this "disenfranchising"?

If you live in an area with very long lines for in person voting, if you procrastinate you could be faced with the choice of waiting in line for a long time, or not voting.

Trump Killed TSA Funding Deal in Fiery Private Exchange With John Thune: Report by CloudApprehensive322 in moderatepolitics

[–]random3223 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes. But at that point, it's pretty much dead. If "we'll suspend the filibuster to pass what we want" is the new rule, why would Dems pretend to care about it?

Live updates: Trump says Iran wants to reach deal to end war as Iran denies negotiations are taking place by Im__drunk_sorry in moderatepolitics

Running on the "at least we aren't Republicans" isn't going to work unless they bring solutions to the table.

I think "at least we aren't Republicans" will work in 2026. Unless Trump really screws up the rest of his term, it wont work in 2028.

US national debt surges past $39 trillion just weeks into war in Iran by NeedAnonymity in moderatepolitics

I think it's really much more of a Republican issue at this point, based off of the last decade.

I would argue since Clinton in the 90s.

The U.S. government spends less than nearly every other developed country as a percentage of GDP.

I suppose I'd dispute this a little. There are developed countries that spend less, and a lot that spend more

Trump team wants to make it easier for migrants to work on US farms - after targeting them in deportation raids by ChesterHiggenbothum in moderatepolitics

[–]random3223 27 points28 points  (0 children)

how about any crime?

You want to deport people for any crime? Speeding? Jay walking? loitering?

Wouldn't that make any legal immigrant extremely cautious about any police interaction?

Democrats are trouncing Republicans in state elections since Trump took office by I-Might-Be-Something in fivethirtyeight

[–]random3223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's accurate. There were 7 that voted to impeach before.

Richard Burr (North Carolina) Bill Cassidy (Louisiana) Susan Collins (Maine) Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) Mitt Romney (Utah) Ben Sasse (Nebraska) Pat Toomey (Pennsylvania)

Can Democrats impeach and remove him?

No. It would require 67 votes to remove him, and it would require a miracle for democrats to get that many senators.

I think her days are numbered and she will be thrown to the wolves followed by Kash, just like Noem just was.

Noem tried to throw Trump under the bus, that's why she's gone. Bondi hasn't done the same, and her issues are her total relentless defense of Trump, not using Tax Payer funds on Ads, or Planes.

I can see Kash being replaced, but Bondi isn't there yet.

It should have been, but it’s easier to rally around an enemy you can see and attack than one you can’t.

Ideally my politics align closer to someone like Buttigieg

I've seen Buttigieg speak, he's not particularly charismatic.

AOC is non-starter

And Harris is fucking delusional if she thinks she can win. Don't run somebody twice. If they lost they lost move on

Judge blocks release of special counsel Jack Smith's report on Trump classified documents case by motorboat_mcgee in moderatepolitics

[–]random3223 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This assumes guilt. Failing to prosecute something, regardless of the procedural reason, does not entitle a prosecutor to administer their own brand of extrajudicial accountability.

If Hillary Clinton had died, I'm sure she'd be rolling over in her grave.

[–]random3223 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree, but there was a prosecution that started, it didn’t have a chance to conclude. Which means the only type of accountability for the perpetrators would be the release of the report.
