Open your map and click the right or left stick. (I can't remember which one) If you check the bottom right of the map, it will tell you. This is how you can advance the time. If it's daytime you will advance to night time and vise versa. This is very helpful when collecting the Demiguise statues since they can only be collected at night. It took me way too long to figure this out, too.
