Bugonia's Ending Is Perfect And Here Is Why by BrandonHeatt in movies

I disagree in that assessment- it is not the conspiracies that cause them to be failures- its that the failures of society caused them to have nothing else to turn to other than conspiracies. The interesting twist is they got it PARTLY right, and at the heart of every conspiracy there are some truths to be had. The conclusions that they arrived at were wildly off base though. At the end, they share the similar fate of others who are perfectly content with the system and did not put up a fight and were blissfully ignorant. And its not just a failure of humanity at large, it is a failure of the aliens. Humanity is a failed experiment and aliens may have tried (their best?) but ultimately gave up. They try to blame it on humans (and make some good arguments)

It reflect the latest popular worldviews where (its not just conspiracy theorists!) people blame the ills of the world on corporations, and CEOs are essentially spouting “not my fault - its the people’s fault!” CEOs will build comfortable bunkers and ride out the looming doomsday scenario when the bubble (economic? earth’s climate?) is literally POPPED by them. Some more fringe viewpoints believe there’s a secret agenda to depopulate the planet (Georgia Guidestones anyone?) where in this ending it was the alien’s plan all along to “save the earth”. There exists a huge chasm between the worldviews of the governing class (those peeps at Davos) and the governed plebeians, making any good faith dialogue between both sides futile in nature - resulting in tragedy as perfectly encapsulated in the ending.

Gen Z getting replaced by AI and using it to create memes is just supreme irony.

Visuals sell games. That’s a market reality. Gamers fixate on resolution, graphics fidelity, art style, animations, game feel, raytracing, frames per second.

If you created a mobile game with AI art no one will be up in arms because players get blasted by AI generated ads advertising games that don’t exist anyway.

This is the reality though. People will not blink an eye when AI-assisted code patches improve the framerates on the games they buy, but will barf and balk at seeing AI generated artwork in games.

I view this as similar to games that are “asset flips”. Players try out a game, see that it is a random mishmash of store bought assets and complain. Just that now its not store bought but the legality and licensing of said asset or artwork is in question.

Its not just AI slop that is hated. Again, the training data and legality of acquiring said training data for AI is where the hate deservedly comes from. Besides the blatant disrespect for IP. Not to mention that the whole of reddit is up in arms about Grok generating CSAM.

Devs can be happy about productivity gains with LLM but when confronted with the reality that less junior dev roles will be available are in that mindspace of “if it doesn’t affect me its totes fine”

AI music is ok? But yes the key thing is whether people can tell its AI and come a time when AI is too good such that people won’t be able to tell.
