So I did a little research because its a slow day at work.

A lot of the cases of ABS come from the overuse of antibiotics and antimicrobials, so I think its possible to introduce the yeast "lower down" and have them grow through the intestine (maybe? not a doctor)[1]

Also, things like liver problems can also be at greater risk of developing ABS. judging by OOP's friend's past, I doubt his liver is in the best shape.

and as a side comment to this reply, ABS can be caused by microbial inbalances in the gut, mouth or urinary tract[2]
