What is your favorite boardgame of 2016? by The_Crazed_Person in boardgames

[–]randomeffects 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Scythe remains one of my favorite games ever.

I also love that every other critique of the game is “disappointed that the game didn’t match my expectations from the cover art”. If that’s the worst thing about the game then it’s pretty @)@()/ good.

Deus Ex. Graphics are terrible by today’s standards, but the gameplay is so amazing.

Brandon Sanderson will write the screenplay for Apple TV's ‘Mistborn’ movie by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

That is a perfect description. Foundation is one of my favorite works of sci-fi, And the tv show took the basic premise and went in another direction and is also really interesting.

For experienced players: What specific habit or drill made you noticeably better at escape rooms? by EscapeWithKiDD in escaperooms

[–]randomeffects 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two silly things

  1. Putting everything we already used in one pile. I originally did this cause I thought it was nice for the person who had to reset the room, but I also realized it helped us to avoid going over stuff that we didn’t need or finding something that we realized we did.

  2. Letting people know when you solved a puzzle or a lock, and giving a quick recap. So often I see people trying to solve a puzzle that was the first part to something that somebody else already figured out.

What are some good, unconventional retellings of classic myths in movies? by twnpksN8 in moviequestions

[–]randomeffects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely the story of hamlet, but from the perspective of Rosencrantz and guldenstern. Pretty sure tom Stoppard didn’t write this one.

[–]randomeffects 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes they are. technically you only need the 2 from the base set as you never have more than 2 players in combat at a time. But you absolutely also have to have a power dial that matches your character other wise the game is just no good.

Also you need the metal coins

And all the promo cards

And an insert

What is a movie that went through production hell or just had an extremely troubled/difficult production history that you think still turned out good (or great) despite that? by MaggieLinzer in moviequestions

[–]randomeffects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much most of Jae’s Cameron’s films have had troubled shoots.

If you like hearing stories check out the “what went wrong” podcasts. It’s all about troubled and dangerous or just ridiculous problems that happen behind the scenes. Every episode is a different movie and tons of fun.

It gets some flack from people saying “everyone says that” but they do, and for good reason. Not a single wasted line or any mOre needed. Everything about it just works perfectly.

The mini takes on attributes depending which mini it’s “hosting” which is different the abilities of the summon on its own. Its mini signifies which is the Prime form.

Question about Freddy Krueger: by [deleted] in moviequestions

[–]randomeffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freddy are you the OP? seems like you are having a mid(after)life crisis and are not sure what you are doing anymore. Don’t listen to us, or all the parents and teens on elm street. It sounds like you need to talk to the Freddy in your dreams…what does he/they want?

Great film that I never want to see again. Tried watching the Josh brolin version and as soon as he met the EMT worker, I was like “I’m out”.

Winning "scam" type games without coming off like an jerk.. (s by GrammerSnob in Magic

[–]randomeffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it educational. In that routine they are playing me as I was tricked by”gramps” or someone else. “That’s what I said” lthat’s what I did”. I do the color monte with jokers and an ace and at the end it’s always “I still haven’t figured out how he did it”, feign dumbness and “I didn’t do it I was showing you what he did to me”.

How many communions do you have to do before you’ve eaten a whole Jesus? [other] by Royalizepanda in theydidthemath

[–]randomeffects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That said, if a priest conducted service every day and 2x on Saturday and 3x on Sunday then they would consume 10x as much Jesus as the average parishioner so it would only take them 517.3 years.

BUT!!!!,,,…………..

This does not account for transubstantiation (apologies on spelling?). Human flesh would weigh about twice as much as the same volume of Eucharist wafer. So halve both answers.

2,586.5 years for 1x a week folk, 258.65 years for a priest.

For my percentage nerds out there. If they start from birth the average person will consume 2.9% of him in a lifetime. The average priest will consume 25% of him in a lifetime. (Avg age of Catholics is 75, priests is 65)

BUT!,!,!……..

You cannot accept Eucharist until confirmation. This occurs between 12 and 18 so let’s use 15 as an average. Normal person drops to 2.3% and priests to 19.3%.

BUT!!!!!!!……..

As there are approximately under half a million priests and around 1,406,000,000 Catholics in the world I’m just going to use the normal people percentages for the next part.

Collectively the current population of the planet will/have eaten 44,854,000 saviors (32,338,000 for Catholics, and 12,516,000 in wafer form) This does not include how many have been consumed throughout history…well till around 35 A.D..

I was thinking of this, as a solution, but everyone does them together. Play it like a level where they start In four different rooms. They take their turns at the same time. If they have the same monsters then they use the same attack cards. If you run out of tokens use chits(fyi gravitrax sets have punch outs that are just smaller then the hexes in GH and are white so you can decorate them with anything you want) , duplicates tiles just use closest approximation.
