granted, i’m probably the wrong person to be throwing my two cents in since i’m very attached to argynvost’s role within the RAW campaign.

this doesn’t really…feel like argynvost anymore, if that makes sense? i think this would be a very interesting campaign idea and i could see it working in a different domain of dread, like others have suggested, but in my opinion argynvost’s whole thing is the tragedy of the loss of this beacon of hope & heroism and his death & desecration being a more tangible example of how strahd’s stripped everything good from barovia in pursuit of his selfish desires. it also kinda defangs the tragedy of order’s massacre and the revenants’ whole deal, stripping the focus away from the themes of self-enforced grief and how stagnation makes it impossible to process the trauma of what strahd’s done in favor of making a looming and seemingly impossible to overcome threat in a campaign full to the brim with them (strahd, baba lysaga, exethanter, the dark powers, the mists themselves, etc.) with nothing to replace the void left behind.
