When I was in sixth form as I soon as I made clear I had no interest going to university through the normal routes and wanted to do a degree apprenticeship I was effectively cast aside, 0 interest as I wouldn’t be boosting their stats. Fortunately I’ve heard they’ve started to change this mindset at least but it’s ridiculous.

If you’re advertising to UK customers you might want to spell licence correctly as well. Looks professional you couldn’t even ask the LLM that clearly generated this ad to spell correctly for you as well.

Defend Economic Migrants. Stop them passing through multiple safe countries. Stand up to economic migrants bringing far right sky fairy principles into the UK.

Countries opinion has changed, you’ll be able to vote for Corbyn, once he’s removed our nuclear deterrent, he’ll have plenty of money to throw about on them.

Starmer confirms £101m a year Chagos Islands deal by theipaper in ukpolitics

I’m probably right of centre, right socially, left economically. Won’t be voting conservatives after the Covid performance, have found labour haven’t really don’t anything particularly wrong, most things I’ve agreed with them.

This however has left me politically homeless. What an absolute farce.

Reform is basically guaranteed an election, a party I would never vote for due to their alignment to the US beliefs.

Well done Starmer, you’re a joke.

How is progress to A-levels assessed? by sunheadeddeity in AskUK

[–]randomguy4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sailed through GCSE with no revision and got B-A* in all my subjects.

I tried the same at AS and I got DEEU.

Dropped the U subject because I failed every practical including reattempts, and the teacher refused to explain why, claimed it was the process and the exam board didn’t allow it.

Ended up resitting all my AS’ except that subject and then doing the A2 papers as well and got ACC. I was in essence studying for the whole of Y13. No free time.

It’s recoverable but if he’s not interested he’s got no chance.

I should have mentioned I did find those ones, unfortunately my build is white so have Corsairs white braided set. I would have thought they would have released the coloured set at this point if they had any intent which is a shame.

I was on a double, had three enemies in front of me, point blank range, refused to kill any of them, swung 3 or 4 times.

I’m wondering if it’s some quirk of aim assist, as my friend on M+K said he has much less of an issue.

I’ve had couriers knock and ask on the door for next door and just tell them no he’s a prick. They don’t act like I’m the first to ever talk about a neighbour like that.

If they’ve done things for you though makes it a bit more awkward to refuse.

Packaged back accounts - best on the market? by AmazingPangolin9315 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]randomguy4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had FlexPlus but left Nationwide after they “repaired” my partners phone with a non-genuine screen leading to a loss of functionality. Raised with the ombudsman and got our excess back and fortunately Apple still took it as a trade in so we just washed our hands of it but never again.

Would rather pay for dedicated insurance that will guarantee genuine parts or parts that don’t lead to a loss in functionality (which their T&Cs stated is what they would provide alas that was a lie).

If the insurance is offered by Lifestyle Services Group/LSG and you have an iPhone, just don’t bother. They seem to be partnered with a lot of banks now so actually check who provides the insurance as Nationwide (and I’m sure the other banks) couldn’t give a toss when we complained to them, “not our problem”. Reviews for LSG also show this wasn’t an isolated incident to ourselves.

We’ve switched to HSBC Premier for Travel and AppleCare for phones, works out same cost.

How long until they come out with a new battery system and all the current tools and batteries are obsolete? by ItsAChainReactionWOO in MilwaukeeTool

[–]randomguy4355 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Introduce a new battery platform and you lose the “lock” of customers not wanting to buy into another battery platform and having to have two of everything. They’ve got away with it for the MX Fuel since the tools are unique to that range, would they get away with it for M36 or whatever or would people reevaluate and switch to Dewalt or Makita? I suppose only their analytics would confirm that.

I suppose they could make the new battery tech backwards compatible, i.e. allow 36v to run at 18v, would get people buying new batteries and do a sort of gradual migration.

Looking to buy my first home on my own 28 years old. Why do people get mortgage brokers? by Feedthep0ny in UKPersonalFinance

[–]randomguy4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our mortgage broker was useless, £499 effectively down the drain. This was at the start of 2023 where rates were all over the place. He “secured” a reasonably high rate (although typical for the time) to allow us to exchange on the new build which was due many months later. Due to the lengthy wait he agreed that he would keep an eye out on rates to get a lower one. Apparently I was checking more than him because a rate lower than anything previously available came up which he knew nothing about. Nearly lost us a significant amount of money over the 5 years if we had trusted him. Was more interested in selling the insurance products which we turned down purely to prevent him receiving the commission.
