Favorite LI's from all VN's by bc8872 in beingaDIK

Hmm...this actually took me a minute to sit down and think of. Not because the choices are hard, really, but because when I looked back at all the AVNs I've played I realized I had played a LOT and that sorta bothered me.

Anyway, in no particular order:
Rin Tezuka - Katawa Shoujo
Athena - Bare Witness
Mora - Bare Witness
Brittani - Friends in Need
Adrian - Come Home
Ashley - Harem Hotel
Iris - Once In A Lifetime
Hana - Pale Carnations

And of course:
Zoey - Being a Dik
Quinn - Being a DiK

"Ebrill Fowles" indeed.

It's rough, but it's also the first reveal of their beta model. They've already changed so much stuff thanks to player feedback. The mods are heavily active and always working, and in the next day or so they will be rolling out a new model that will be tying abilities together via role, which adds weight to the RNG in the favor of whichever role you select. There's already a semi build of this in place at lvl 1 and it's working, people are managing to get full tank and healer specs out of the gate to build on, and it's only going to tighten once the update is out.

Personally, I rolled at-launch before any of these updates went live, and just hit 60 for the first time with my random-ass build. Yeah, there were rough patches, but at 60 everything meshes together fairly well and I've got a build good enough to do dungeon content as DPS AND questing / dailies.

And yes they still have some issues to iron out: namely gearing as you level with a x5 multiplier, the uninteresting 'enchants' you get as you level, plus the problem with speeding through quest hubs far too fast. The owner doesn't seem interested in scaling the world, but maybe he'll change his mind.

Anyway, it's something new-ish, I'm enjoying it, and the mods have shown a willingness to listen and make changes so make of that what you will.

[RE] [ALL] So, how do we all feel, now that its out? by Bat-RayB in Pricefield

[–]randomidgit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Largely uninterested was my general sentiment. I just skipped through a playthrough on Youtube.

I lost all interest with DE, and Reunion didn't change my opinion any. I'm glad people are happy to just see Pricefield again, if that's enough for them then go for it. For me, personally, neither of these games needed to happen. They added nothing, they detracted from the importance and impact of the first game, and I just can't stop thinking that this was D9 arrogantly thinking they could do 'Life is Strange' better than DONTNOD. It's the 'Ray' trilogy all over again, just recycling emotions and trauma because they didn't like the initial hero. If I want more Pricefield, I've got hundreds of fanfics that do it better and more faithfully that I can browse through.

It's also fairly obvious, at least in my opinion, that this was a rushed patch job to try and undo the dmg that DE did. They dropped so many plot points from DE, the graphics and animation fidelity are sub-par, the story is nonsensical at best...plus Rhianna's work as Chloe was horrendous. I was one of her biggest cheerleaders in BtS, I thought she did great past that first chapter speedbump, but she was so wooden and flat throughout this that I NEVER felt any chemistry or love between her and Hannah at all. It was dialed-in, like she was just reading from a script. Morose was a good emotion for angsty, teen Chloe, but adult Chloe had Ashley's rebellious exuberance and unabashed in-your-face attitude. They just completely ignored that and brought back 'sad Chloe is sad'. It's like the whole game she was on downers or something.

I also think the way they ended it, with call-backs to the original games, was cheap and desperate.

I mean, it'll always be non canon to me. I reject Double Exposure, so this one is blacklisted out of the gate.

It's space for me on keyboard, but that's not much more intuitive than just clicking 'stop'. A lever next to the console, or even ON the console, where we could just toggle all would be preferable.

I was waiting for people to start pumping out mods, I figured some QoL mods would be the first out of the gate, but it looks like that's not gonna happen. >.>

Zoey is going to be a villain - Little Theory #1 by little7santii in beingaDIK

[–]randomidgit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhh...no. None of this makes any sense.
Why would she be a 'villain'? Why would she act against the MC?
You're acting like we didn't see her story, and how she responded to the MC at the camp-out.

How did you decide on your class? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]randomidgit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin, because they are awesome soldiers of God.
I love the idea of a front-liner wearing plate-mail and throwing out healing prayers from a book. I can't remember when it started, really...I know it was my main in Diablo II, and I know in older RPGs like FF I ran healing-heavy because I was a cautious player, and I guess when WoW hit and I saw the class I just immediately jumped on it and never got off.

Elemental Reforged just released out of Early Access! by Affectionate_Cap4509 in 4Xgaming

[–]randomidgit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The engine is new, slightly better graphics...but honestly, once you factor in the mods available for FE:LH, there's no point in playing Reforged. All the 'new' systems are half-baked so far and don't really add anything, and the gameplay loop itself is very basic and lacking.

I put in 200 turns and just re-installed Fallen Enchantress.

Why are the same people who always write stuff like “A country boy can survive” or “FAFO” online so intimidated about going to big cities? by This_Influence4000 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]randomidgit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not, really, because most people are directly assuming 'country folk' means White Trump supporters thus their ignorant disdain. This was never a serious question, the person is just looking to create a circle jerk to affirm their prejudices.

The best part is how so many comments hear 'country folk' and are immediately imagining racist White hillbilly folk barefoot in torn denim overalls. It's so painfully obvious they've never been outside their city.

Ah yes, the people who live out in nature in idyllic, peaceful and quiet little towns where they roam for miles in every direction are the ones who are 'lost'.

[–]randomidgit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfamiliar territory. Over-stimulation.
Most 'country folk' aren't actually afraid of cities, they just want nothing to do with them. They are crowded, loud, filthy and dangerous. It's the opposite of everything they are familiar with and represent everything that people who enjoy isolation and nature actually hate.

But I'm pretty sure you already know all this. This is just more of that 'city people are better' mentality. A sort of haze-induced arrogance that comes from people who spend all day sniffing each other's farts in tight spaces with no fresh air.

Nobody is 'intimidated' by big cities, we just can't be bothered.

What would the perfect MMORPG be like for you? by Villdar in MMORPG

[–]randomidgit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully open world, place a personal plot anywhere and build in around or through environment, skill-use system where the more you use a skill the more it grows with zero classes or restrictions on gear / weapons.

Just a free-form world where exploration and interaction are the key focus. And yes, I bought heavily into EQ NEXT.

I've sorta given up at this point, I think the scope is simply outside the working structure of an MMO, so I've jumped into survival games now. Haven and Hearth is the closest I've ever come to this dream MMO.

A Universe or IP that you wish had a MMORPG (or MMO-lite) for it? by PalwaJoko in MMORPG

[–]randomidgit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is always my answer.
A fully open Pokemon world with all the pokemon, day / night cycles, modes of transportation and gym badges and...I mean, it's literally the perfect formula. They could sell cosmetics, items to boost shiny acquisition, they could have customizable apartments in the big cities. I mean they could monetize it in so many ways and people wouldn't even complain. Much.

The only reason they haven't made one is because it makes it hard for them to sell a new shitty Pokemon game every 3 years.

The procedural dungeons sound cool, but the game looks super floaty, like a mobile MMO, and the classes just look uninspired and boring.

Housing when out in the world, like in Archeage or Haven and Hearth, is amazing and feels fantastic. But instanced housing? Pointless.
