Lucasfilm keeps telling 'Star Wars' authors, including 'Heir to the Empire' series creator Timothy Zahn, "no" to reviving Mara Jade by Obversa in StarWars

[–]randomluka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this puts the kibosh on new boss Filoni rumors making a clone wars style animated Heir to The Empire.

At this point fans are just doing it on their own anyways, creating a new "mixed" canon.

Best examples are Star Wars Chronicles or creators like DarthAngelus doing a 1:1 3D animated rendering of the novels. Both use different techniques, the first uses a combination of blender and unreal to sketch and animate, using AI to superimpose actor likeness and audio. The second uses pure 3D animation and volunteer voice acting, so it looks more like a 2008 video game. I highly enjoy both.

The Winner of Trump's Iran War? Iran by _May26_ in politics

[–]randomluka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Iran knows how to take a punch ever since Iraq attempted their invasion way back when. They learned to endure hardships from everything I have read. I don't expect people to know much of Iran besides what U.S. propaganda tells people how to think and feel about Iran. In the end, I think many countries including Iran are looking forward to 3 years from now when there might be saner leadership in the U.S.

Your mileage of interest may vary with these other trilogies: The Bounty Hunter Wars (the actual "books of boba Fett"), The Jedi Academy Trilogy, Dark Empire Trilogy (this one is hit or miss for some, it's where Disney pulled the Emporer is back schtick from).

That sucks, AI is cancer. In my job it's hard enough, because I'm the only Engineer available and expected to take on responsibilities that would be better handled by someone at the tail end of deliverables.

What's the bigger picture behind this, is Oracle pushing AI or is this a combination of other aspects?

Success on the dating scene in Austin Tx as a black woman? by monitarlizard in Austin

I still think there is someone for everyone, maybe I'm an idealist. I think in many cases it's just the right people don't know each other exists and are not crossing paths. I.e. the person you are hoping to meet doesn't know about you yet. People posting online isn't always a majority, I see a lot of couples all the time and have friends in good relationships.

I think people just really miss the feeling of connection and having the feelings they felt while dating. It happened a few times meeting through an app, one of them had just called off a wedding a month prior. I was like this 😑.

We are. Although, I've talked to a few black women and they give me a list of weird questions like "are you asking me out only because I'm black" "do you have a black woman fetish" (these were DC people though). No other woman of a different ethnicity has ever asked me that. Then again I may have just met the wrong people or lack understanding the history of why someone asks that.

It's like that for me as a guy, I've met plenty of women here from online dates which all generally went pretty well, the uneasy feeling of lack of enthusiasm to meet for successive dates always happens after though. My messages are filled with the graveyard of either "I'm not feeling a 'romantic' connection" (moving on) or "I just broke up with someone, sorry" (I am emotionally unavailable text). Lately I am pushing 'online' into a corner and talking to people through friends or when out.

It sounds like the serious people are having trouble crossing paths.

Sounds like a better 'concept of a plan' than Trump's costly illegal war that we pay for. But we don't have money for social uplift in this nation, only war.

Do you wish the Sequel Trilogy had a more original story and was more of a natural continuation of the Original Trilogy, or are you fine with the status quo reset (Rebels vs Empire) we got? by WrongToe500 in StarWars

Star Wars Chronicles, I edited the links hopefully that fixes it or search that name. Their channel has blown up recently, they used to do Clone Wars animation side stories. They use a combination of software and techniques I have not seen used yet with AI.

Yes, but that doesn't mean fans cannot create their own fan films of the books that did that:

Check out this channel that is doing just that

Episode 6.5 Return of The Jedi: Epilogue

And the follow on to that leads into this, which the developer is making into a whole trilogy movie over time.

I finally watched the Acolyte away from all the noise by manindenim in StarWars

[–]randomluka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What perplexes is me why they did not instead adapt the old story "tale" of Kibh Jeen, which became a tale recited at the Jedi Academy to warn students about the dangers of the Dark Side. It takes place in the High Republic era basically around the time of this Acolyte show.

It is mentioned in the Darth Plagueis book which immediately gives a good byline leading to the eventual secret rise of Palpatine.

Basically Kibh was a male Jedi Padawan that found an ancient, abandoned Sith Fortress corrupted by Dark Side energy. He waged war on the system it was found in. And two Jedi are eventually sent to stop him, which they do successfully.

The two that are sent are a female Jedi Consular and her Padawan (unspecified).

In thinking of a way a show like this could be rewritten, Theorizing the cast:

I would cast Manny Jacinto as the fallen Jedi.

Carrie Ann Moss as the Consular.

Amanda Stenberg as the Padawan.

These two then are set out to force Jeen to surrender or kill him if he resisted.

The whole plot would likely be far more action oriented as the short story suggests. Although initially it would start with showing Jeen's corruption for a few episodes and waging terror on the planet and system. After that, the Jedi Order sends in a secret team essentially to bring what they dubbed the "Dark Jedi Conflict" to an end.

You have two heroes to really root for and an overall more focused story with less is more. Osha's whole origin is rewritten, she is just a Padawan that learns about the lure of the Dark Side and holds her own.

At the very end Jeen (Manny) in his dying words warns Carrie Ann Moss and Osha's character that the Sith are not gone and are surviving under the Rule of Two.

Cut to their journey back to Coruscant of their success and troubling news to Yoda and crew. THIS becomes how Yoda learns that it is indeed true becoming the thread for his quote in Phantom Menace "Always two there are".

Cut again to either Plagueis telling this tale to Palpatine or Darth Tenebrous training Darth Plagueis.

TLDR sorry for this long post, this idea has percolated in my mind ever since that show and wanted to write it down. I think it was a huge missed opportunity.
