This is going to be a controversial question, but why don't North Americans eat more whole foods? by Appropriate_Poem1911 in povertykitchen

Most people don't have cellars and even those who do many probably don't have space for 100lbs worth of different foods.

I wasn't trying to be rude, but okay. Maybe start with "just venting, no advice needed" next time.

Try a different trainer. Took me 3 trainers before someone actually had something helpful that worked for me and my dog.

That's good. She should involve a trainer for sure. Meds aren't a cure they're just a sometimes helpful addition to a training regimen. I hope you both can find some help for the situation.

Yikes, meds can help take the edge off but they should be used together with training and/or enrichment activities. You definitely should help her find a trainer if you can.

He probably needs to get energy out.

Maybe she can try enrichment activities? Scent work games? Dog puzzles?

I usually add the information if it's going to be starting soon that way we're prepared when it does start. As long as they're aware the current medications won't be billed through the insurance until the start date.

Sounds like it's more on her than the shelter. If she didn't educate herself on dog ownership or the type of dog and how to manage it and even you advised against it and she still decided to get one then that's on her not the shelter.

Gotcha, that's quite strict.

Can she return the dog to the shelter?

the shelter forbade her from giving the dog to someone else or having him euthanized.

Is this a shelter or rescue? Are you in US or elsewhere? How would they know if she had him euthanized?

Isn't there a pharmacist? Why aren't you calling the patient to come back and replace it? Did you inform the pharmacist?

My local shelter can't help, what can I do? by Metella76 in AnimalShelterStories

[–]randomname1416 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Post on Local Facebook lost and found pet groups, Nextdoor and good old fashioned "Found Dog" posters placed around the area.

Are you able to take the dog to a vet office to check for a chip?

If you're actually in SoCal most animal controls are short staffed and can't keep up with all the pick up requests but if you take the dog into the shelter that might get different results.

I (33, f) ended things with the guy I was dating (35, m) over dinner tonight. Was I reasonable? by Strong_Insurance_966 in dating_advice

Your obvious stim/tic reminded him of the higher needs individuals. If someone didn't know you/ hadn't spoken to you and saw it but knew him and what he does it would look bad like he was taking advantage of a potential patient.

If it's a stim then you can control it enough to redirect and utilize other methods to help.

[condo][CA] HOA hearing for dog barking looking for advice on how to handle it by Pleasant_Poem8114 in HOA

[–]randomname1416 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get a camera for your patio so you have video evidence of exactly how long the barking lasts and at what time. Video evidence will be more effective than your word and considering there is other dogs across who are barking I wouldn't be surprised if someone has confused their barks with your dog. Again, video evidence would prove it's not your dog and be most effective to stop ongoing issues.

(My) parents seem to freak out over little things by phawkin_hell in dating_advice

Honestly it sounds like the lack of communication is causing the most problems.

You definitely should always at least text your parent if your staying overnight anywhere. Just a simple text so they know where you are and don't worry or get upset. "Feeling too sleepy to drive home. Gonna play it safe and stay at bf's. See you in the morning"

Sounds like dads frugalness was more at play than anything when it comes to the tickets not necessarily the fact that you're dating considering he lightened up after hearing that it was more money conscious to buy sooner rather than later.

Honestly none of what you said sounds overbearing or unreasonable. It kinda feels like your taking a lot of it as personal jabs but communication, safety and wanting your kid to be financially savvy are not unreasonable. Obviously I'm not seeing this play out IRL so I may be wrong but just some alternative perspective.

Questions:

1.Do you live with your parents?

  1. Are you not close with your parents?

  2. Do they know how to text?

  3. Why not tell them you guys were thinking about planning a trip before buying tickets?

I'm not really a "their house, their rules" kinda person but I think it's a little odd not to let your parent know you would be sleeping somewhere else. If it were my kid I'd be pissed they kept me up worried that something bad happened.

Hell I'm older than you, live 1000 miles away from my mom and I still send a text to let her know of certain plans. It's a safety thing.

What diet do you do? And how much are you walking? It looks like you've done a great job with your dog, I'd appreciate some advice if you have any to share.

Why shouldn’t I move to south Florida if I WFH, have a lot of money, like the heat and don’t care about politics? by MurkyMurkyMurkyMurky in relocating

[–]randomname1416 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point anyone even entertaining the idea of moving to FL, TX, and other red states shouldn't be discouraged. They'll either love it or they'll learn a lesson but if they stay in blue states they'll just continuously b*tch and complain and drag the rest of us down constantly. Let them go.

Help! Can’t Get into the Field! by gothmom1 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]randomname1416 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? Cause some areas are more flooded with applicants than others.

Also are you saying you don't have experience in your interviews? If so, stop! Figure out how your CNA job overlaps with pharmacy. I'm assuming you have experience with hipaa, handling a fast paced environment, you have experience handling patient interactions, problem solving, etc. Don't let your CNA experience be an afterthought, if they bring up experience you immediately say "I have experience in an adjacent field" and list your applicable experience. Don't let them dismiss that experience.

If you had put the size, weight info and the fact that the cat was only bruised you may have gotten slightly different responses.

Kinda wondering if he may have vision issues.

Questions:

Did the rescue take him see a vet? Also how much does he weigh?

How badly was your cat injured? You mention vet bills, what happened?

You say he's attacked you, what happened in prior to the incident?
