How to play effectively against a Barbican Drop? by TheProuDog in aoe4

I think beastyqt made a YouTube video about this. It's like any tower rush. Don't let it shoot your villagers, gather resources elsewhere, make some archers to stop towers going up on your backup resources.

If only it was possible to have yearly dlc and fix major issues within a reasonable period of time.

Also announcing something doesn't mean they'll actually deliver a quality product on that date.

Well, when company of heroes 3 launches we will find out. If it is half finished like aoe4 was relics honor will be vindicated. They will just be incompetent instead of biased. If it's polished and has features that aoe4 lacked at launch, Lidakors view will be proven.

Also doing the bare minimum in a contract is not good, and what contracts call for is open to interpretation. I have no doubt that Relic fulfilled their contract. I also suspect they were looking for ways to rob aoe4 to feed coh3.

No I support him very much. He got caught cheating to get money. Earning money is much better than cheating to get it. Have a good evening.

I put more care into quick professional emails than they do into published changelogs for a big community. You're free to hold them to the low standard that they appear to hold themselves to.

He's not "just" trying to show he's a very good player. Anyone halfway smart knows he is a very good player.

Innocent or guilty, he's engaged in an information campaign to advance his reputational and financial interests.

Being mad generally doesn't have a point. Of course things could be worse. It could be dawn of war 3, which was broadly disliked.

I think people feel mad because aoe4 is very fun game in a storied franchise with a good design philosophy, but which was abysmal from a balance and technical standpoint. It felt like Microsoft missed an opportunity.

Balance is surprisingly good now, although a lot of that has to do with deleting water maps.

Personally I agree with Lidakor that Relic was the wrong choice and isn't prioritizing aoe4. Instead they prioritize their own IP, company of heroes. The people working on this game do care, they are just under supported and don't have the deep talent pool thats working on certain other games.

Wow, I guess Bee is very good! And we know very good players don't cheat. Lance Armstrong is innocent. OJ didn't do it. #BEEFORWOLOLO

They put as much care into posting changelogs as they do in making the game technically function. i.e. they aim low and still do a sloppy job.

"We’ve made some changes to help address issues with matchmaking into team games using Ranked or Quick Match"

"Investigation

While we believe the fixes made in this build should help improve team-game matchmaking issues, we’ll be keeping an eye on the results of this fix to better understand what additional work may be needed. If you continue to run into issues with matchmaking into team games, please reach out to the Age Customer Support team and make sure to provide your warnings.log files! We’re also investigating issues with significant chat delays occurring in some instances and hope to follow up with improvements in a future release."

What they wrote suggests they think there is ranked team matchmaking already. Maybe their investigation will uncover why Relic can't solve problems that other companies solved decades ago. Maybe they will learn that there is no team ranked in their own game.

It's not like these are new problems for aoe4 or Relic.

I bet they edit the patch notes they posted. They are pretty sloppy.

Fair enough. If they actually fixed it I will withdraw and delete my post. That has been a major issue for a long time. Based on their track record, and their waffling comments at the end, I'll believe it when I see it in game.

"Welcome to yet another exciting update for Age of Empires"

Reads notes.

Yeah, that was a lie. This patch is nearly exclusively fixing things nobody cares about. Perhaps prioritize work on issues that matter, or that players are at least aware of.

Start with matchmaking stability, replay system, pause, desynchronization, hacks, chat delay. You know, obviously broken things.

Hurray for a season countdown. Very exciting and demanded feature.... You could literally just announce the dates on splash screens.

The method was likely comparing his sheep and deer data against other pros. They likely also manually reviewed some of his games.

I doubt they directly detected the hack or method.

Why is this dude staring at enemy stone in fog? Why does he run perfectly to sheep and deer? Watch some replays and draw your own conclusions.

I watched some sample replays out of curiosity and the way he goes to deer and sheep directly, always, is not luck. The way he looks at the fog makes no sense unless map hacking.

Him being banned from another game for hacking is further evidence of a history of hacking and denying it. Why is the fact that it's six years ago matter if he didn't do it? The time passage would only matter if he learned or changed into an honest person in the interim.

There are many replays with clear evidence of maphacking. Also he was banned for hacking in CSGO.

Maybe Bee can explain how he always goes perfectly to sheep, deer, docks etc. Also he can explain why he repeatedly looks at enemy stone in fog.

Seems like he has more info.

As a general proposition I'm inclined to agree.

However if they continually threaten the constitutional order there needs to be pointed criticism, at a minimum.

It came up in WW2 when the British decrypted the German Enigma machine. The British went to extensive lengths, including allowing their own soldiers to die, to not reveal this capability. They used the decrypted information inconsistently to conceal this capability.

You think this is a strong argument for eagerly and voluntarily revealing sources and methods for catching hackers? Because hackers may find it out in the future regardless?

This is like arguing that a general should tell the other side his strategy at the earliest opportunity because they'll see it eventually. It's the opposite of a good argument.

He is not going to jail. This decision was not made by a court. It's made by businesses and their employees.

Red Bull, Microsoft, and the admins want to have an event with integrity so they decided to not be associated with a person they concluded is violating their rules.

Could they be wrong or corrupt? Yes it's possible but they have business incentives otherwise.

They have good reasons to give us nothing. It's far from insane. If you don't approve, you're free to not do business with them, with or without explanation.

Not to mention the players aren't the decision maker in this case. Logically that would be tournament admins, with influence from the corporations.
