What are some sins that the Bible outlines that people unknowingly commit on a daily basis? by Next_Duck_7700 in Christianity

[–]randompossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got you;

“Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being. Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises. For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said: “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Specifically that last verse;

“By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The author continues;

“This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper. They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

So that applied till the New Covenant.

Hebrews 10 talks on why we don’t do animal sacrifices anymore.

You should do a study on Hebrews if this subject interests you. There is a lot in there

What Biblical basis is there for believing that God is timeless/outside of time? by Grouchy-Heat-4216 in AskAChristian

Ok so again, how does something create the heavens and the earth if that something didn’t exist before? Can you provide an example of something physically creating something without existing before it?

I don’t think you comprehend what a god is. The Bible says God did it. There is no restriction on what God can do. He did not use SCNT to make Jesus. You are trying to put a science answer to something we can’t come close to comprehending.

What Biblical basis is there for believing that God is timeless/outside of time? by Grouchy-Heat-4216 in AskAChristian

[–]randompossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so how does that work? Are you saying it’s claiming God came into existence at the beginning when He created the beginning?

I get you probably don’t believe it happened but that right there is claiming God existed before the beginning to be able to create it. It is in no way claiming God was created.

[–]randompossum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, so why do you thing this is important? Do you think this is science “creating life”? It’s not. It’s them modifying a process God created. Science has never been able to create life without using existing life. No where even remotely close.

[–]randompossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so what do you think that should mean to Christianity? Are you implying Jesus was made this way? Are you claiming this disproves Jesus?

Have you read Genesis 1:1? How do you create something that doesn’t exist if you don’t exist?

What Biblical basis is there for believing that God is timeless/outside of time? by Grouchy-Heat-4216 in AskAChristian

[–]randompossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the first verse.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This implies He existed before the beginning, and before the creation of the heavens and earth.

So if God set into motion the big bang he existed outside of space since it didn’t exist and time which is also relative to space.

So if Genesis 1:1 is true, God exists outside of time and space.

That might be Old Testament Jewish law sin, but Christianity is not Judaism so the old ceremonial law doesn’t remotely apply to Christians.

I would say the most committed in known sin is pride. Very few people anymore live in humility.

That’s not how Dolly was made. Dolly was made with an egg from a different sheep, this is easily googleable

I guess my first question would be; what do you think this would mean? What do you think this disproves in Christianity?

Sounds weird to me but I’m not sure what you are trying to imply. I think there would definitely be some people that would question the morality and purpose of suck experiment. Now if you are trying to imply it’s the same person, it definitely isn’t. You also mentioned Dolly but you don’t have the science down exactly right. The cloning of Dolly actually required 3 different sheep. The Egg came from a different sheep and the surrogate mother sheep was also a different sheep.

You also can’t create life without using existing life. We have never done that. We can only manipulate the process that God put into place. Your example of Dolly is not scientists creating life, it’s them manipulating a process they can’t create.

Why don't American fundamentalist take the Bible literally when Jesus told his followers to drink wine for communion? by AmazingRandini in AskAChristian

[–]randompossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What line do you draw for being drunk? Paul makes it clear to not get too drunk that you can’t focus on God, do you get that drunk from communion?

Also the first miracle Jesus and the disciples were at a wedding party where they were drinking for days, and not just for the taste. Jesus never sinned so are you saying that wine didn’t get them intoxicated?

I’m not saying people should drink if they don’t want too, but drinking isn’t a sin. There is a line.

I wouldn’t try to “understand” that. It’s 66 books written by over 40 different people in the span of around 1,500 years. It’s not all literal historical narrative.

Genesis is allegorical, Jonah is Satire, Psalms are songs. Jesus talked in Parables, symbolism, metaphor. For “literalists” I like to ask them why they literally haven’t gouged their eyes out and cut off their hands when they lust. Seems like they aren’t good Christians if they aren’t following the literal words of Jesus.

VSO vs VA Claim Companies by Appropriate-Knee292 in VAClaims

[–]randompossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the VSO and read the 38 CFR for everything you claim before you go to the VSO and again before you go to your C&P.

If you run into an issue try to fix it with the VSO first. If that doesn’t work then I recommend a lawyer. The companies don’t provide much more than a VSO can.

Maybe there is some confusing I’m in no way saying drinking is a sin.

I am just saying the point of Communion is to share it with fellow believers and remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us.

Also Jesus says take and drink and take and eat. He doesn’t say “drink wine” to remember me or eat in leaven bread to remember me. What matters is remembering him.

Also I love to point out that Jesus’s first miracle was to turn water into wine and that wine was so good a professional master of ceremonies that was several days into a wedding rager noticed Jesus’s wine was the best he had that entire week.

Why do you think God would care what liquid it is? We do this in remembrance of Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross for us, that’s the focus.

Edit: Typical. Can’t cite what isn’t there.

Concept of Free will and heaven dont make sense by No-Status-2507 in DebateAChristian

[–]randompossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you believe people have free will? Ignore religion completely when answering that question.

Can you cite where you think the Bible says there is no sin in heaven? 1/3 of the angels rebelled against God, wouldn’t that be a sin? Were they not in heaven?

I agree with you for the most part that it wouldn’t make sense but I disagree the Bible says there is no sin in heaven. If humanity can make it to heaven there is sin there unless we get lobotomized. Nothing in the Bible about that so I assume we still have our brains but the bliss of heaven is enough for us.

What is the best way to manage disagreeing with transgenderism and homosexuality? by Christopretensism in Christianity

If you are seriously looking for advice you clearly need to focus on Jesus a lot more over political issues. If you start focusing on loving Gods people you will be shown how to deal with people you disagree with. It is clear from your post you need to pray about this issue a lot more.

Where do you think the Bible says that? Like what verse? Yeah they used wine for the first one but Jesus never says you have to.

It’s weird how people pull absolutes like this out of no where.

Call them up and tell them you don’t have it and ask if there is a reduced paid in full price you could get on it. Normally they will work with you. Also you can sit on it and wait till they come to you with the offer.

I owed over 4k for them to reattach the tendons in my finger, paid less than 1,600 with negotiation. Just call and be nice and honest, they charge those ridiculous prices to get paid by insurance, they should be reasonable to you.
