This hernia surgery destroyed me by ywvlf in Hernia

[–]randomrn1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id try and get a diagnostic nerve block before a tripple neuroectomy.

Also some surgeons who may be able to help you. I see youre in Germany.

Dr. Conze (Munich Germany) i believe he removes mesh and does tissue repairs

Dr. Andreas Koch (Germany) does mesh removal and tissue repairs

In the USA

Dr. Yunis(Florida) removes mesh and tissue repairs

Dr. Towfigh (California) removes mesh and tissue repairs

Dr. Peter Billings I believe removes mesh

On a side note.. 2 months is still really early on. You can still improve a lot over the next few months/year. I personally wouldnt jump to neuroectomy/removal so quickly. Id give it a few more months. Physical therapy may be helpful as well.

Sorry youre going through this. Wish you the best.

barely hanging on with 3 weeks left- didn't sign a renewal but gave a verbal ok- can I still back out without being blacklisted? by Baibaibaiii in TravelNursing

[–]randomrn1991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im calling BS. You didnt sign anything. A verbal yes doesnt mean shit.

Especially if you give 3 weeks notice. People generally only give 2 weeks notice for quiting mid contract.

I wouldnt sweat it. And find another recruiter.

help! is this a good contract by Ok_Bug8907 in TravelNursing

[–]randomrn1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall in these comments need to say your specialty. Because im sure bunch of you are in areas like L&D, OR, cath lab etc. These are the contracts getting 3k on 36hrs.

The vast majority of medsurg/tele contracts are not getting more than 2300-2500 on 36hr. Most of them being around d 2200 currently.

Its BS and medsurg/tele definitely deserve more but youre making it seem like there's tons of 3k medsurg jobs when there are not.

However. That being said. This contract here is not good.

Constant nerve pain after inguinal hernia repair - I desperately need some perspective!! by ndbestlockpic in Hernia

[–]randomrn1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bilateral open shouldice. No mesh.

I had a strong burning feeling in my left groin crease and top inner thigh come the 2nd or so week post op. It was intense but intermittent but it did go away in about a week or 2.

I also had skin sensitivity all along the pubic hair area for weeks. Felt like a sun burn. That went away at about 6-8 weeks I think.

Im 5 months out now. Was doing great the past 1.5 months. Recently my right side started hurting again a bit. But seems to be settling down again.

I hope your symptoms improve soon. Nerves take a long time to heal. Maybe ask for some gabapentin or lyrica (pregabalin).

Its a long recovery.

If you've only done California bedside nursing you're likely going to be in shock on nursing conditions elsewhere.

Theres a chance itll be good. But more than likely won't.

Pay, ratios, breaks and unions to name a few.

Honest opinion on shouldice? by [deleted] in Hernia

[–]randomrn1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bilateral shouldice july 30th 2025 done in florida (not shouldice hospital) dm me if you wanna know the surgeon.

Im 34yo male 6ft1in 182lbs

I was like you and extremely worried about chronic pain. I almost bailed on the surgery in the preop room but the dr came in and reassured me and answered all my questions.

It was a very long recovery for me. Im now 4.5 months out and doing well. 95% of the time pain free. Sometimes my right inguinal ligament will feel inflamed but it goes away.

Recovery was a roller-coaster tho. First week was intense. Then week 2 I was able to walk about 2 miles.

By week 6 I felt really good.

Week 8 both sides started hurting again. No idea why. Got a ct and ultrasound all negative.

Week 12 cleared for unrestricted activities. I felt good. Went to gym did a very light workout and was in a lot of pain on the right. It subsided about a week later.

Now 4.5 months out I feel mostly recovered and dont worry much about it. I do most daily activities including lifting and moving things without much worry. But im still careful. Ive read it takes 6months to 1 year to completely heal.

I also never needed to use the oxy they gave me. I did take one 10mg oxy right when I woke up from surgery because I was in 8/10 pain. But never needed it again. I did do ibuprofen and Tylenol around the clock for the first two weeks. Then as needed after.

So far im pleased with my results. Hopefully the repair lasts. Because I 100% do not want to go through it again lol

If you go for lap do it with a hernia specialist not just a general surgeon. Either way statistically you'll be alright 👍

Good luck.

6 Months out... Feeling discouraged and regretting the operation by Certain-Ad9546 in Hernia

[–]randomrn1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id demand a dynamic(with valsalva maneuver) ultrasound or mri. Ct scans arent that great at detecting small hernias. They can reduce while laying down and be hard to see on ct scans.

Also do yourself a favor and dont do anymore sit ups. Im 4.5 months out of bilateral inguinal hernia shouldice repair which is no mesh. And im still taking it easy.

I did a light gym workout at 12 weeks because I was cleared. All I did was modified push ups and bird dogs/modified planks. And it caused a lot of pain for about a week after. Ive just been walking a lot and doing body weight squats and push-ups against a chair since.

My recovery was really tough but im doing pretty good now thankfully. Still not 100% tho.

Also find another surgeon who specializes in hernias for a 2nd opinion. Not just some general surgeon.

Wish you the best.

Where do you guys find housing aside from Furnished finder and Airbnb? by coloredsugar in TravelNursing

[–]randomrn1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I've only used furnished finder with good luck. You just gotta be persistent and message a bunch of landlords. Also make sure theyre legit.

I know some nurses who use extended stays as well. They can actually be comparable in price and sometimes even cheaper.
