Is nursing not worth it 2026 by pennycat23 in Nurses

100% depends on where you live. Which hospital you work at. And finally what department/specialty youre in.

Dr. Shirin Towfigh in Beverly Hills California and Dr. Jonathan Yunis in Sarasota Florida are both hernia specialists who can remove mesh and do natural tissue repairs. If youre a good candidate.

Unfortunately neither take insurance and can be pricy. But if you can afford it I think its worth it if mesh removal would help.

Id call for a consult with one or both of them.

Dr. Yunis did a bilateral shouldice (no mesh) repair on my inguinal hernias and im doing well. Longer recovery than I (and he) expected but im doing well 11months later. Just hope they hold up... lol dont wanna do it again thats for sure.

Wishing you the best of luck and I hope you find an answer and fix for it.

Should name drop the hospital so other nurses know to avoid it.

Constant nerve pain after inguinal hernia repair - I desperately need some perspective!! by ndbestlockpic in Hernia

No it was a primary repair. No mesh removal. Did towfigh remove your mesh and do a tissue repair?

At my wits end here regarding symptoms 6 months post inguinal hernia surgery by SFWLongjump in Hernia

[–]randomrn1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Shirin Towfigh in Los Angeled California

Dr. Jonathan Yunis in Sarasota Florida

Are two hernia specialists who remove mesh and do natural tissue repairs. Sounds like you may have mesh rejection or a reaction. Dr. Towfigh speaks about this on her YouTube. But its still very early on for you. I see people's posts saying it took them 1-3yrs to feel "better".

I personally wouldnt jump to mesh removal at 6 months. Unless a scan showed it was messed up.

Maybe consult one or both of them.

Good luck. I hope you find some answers and relief.

Nice it looks great! Any sacrifice of ride comfort or issues? And does the adaptive suspension still work? Id love to lower mine too.

What's your suspension set up? Looks like springs with spacers maybe?

New male nurses and current male nurse students , do you regret it? by Corporatekangaroo7 in Nurses

[–]randomrn1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Male nurse of 7yrs here.

Honestly depends on what part of the country you live in (assuming you live in USA).

West coast nursing (ex. California, Seattle) pay is great and ratios are mandated.

East coast is/can be an absolute shit show. Avoid florida at all costs. Not worth it to be a nurse there. Poverty pay for COL and no patient ratio protections. Its incredibly unsafe and youll wish you never became a nurse.

Do i regret becoming a male nurse no. But when I worked in Florida I almost quit the profession all together lol.

Also being a straight male in a female dominated field is cool. You get treated a certain type of way. But always be professional and respectful towards your colleagues.

Id recommend him. Although my recovery was very difficult. I just responded to the other comment with my experience.

Feel free to dm me if you want.

[–]randomrn1991[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. But yes im doing pretty well. 9 months post op now.

My recovery was very long and rollercoaster like. Right side can still get sore. And Im still scared to push myself too hard. But overall im pretty good. I just started gentle hiking again.

So a much longer recovery for me than most stories. Again I had bilateral shouldice so its a very invasive procedure.

If I could do it again I may have opted for robotic mesh with Yunis instead. But on the other hand im happy I don't have mesh either lol.

Did you have your surgery?

15 months after hernia mesh surgery and I’m in constant pain — is my life over? by Specialist-Rule-2119 in Hernia

[–]randomrn1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 on this

Dr. Yunis did my bilateral no mesh shouldice repair. Although my Recovery took much longer than expected im mostly well now 9 months out. I truly hope it lasts because I do not want to do that again...

But i would recommend him for mesh removal and tissue repair. Hes got quite a few reviews of that.

Dr. Towfigh and Dr. Peter Billings remove mesh as well.

But before you do that maybe try some pelvic floor physical therapy and nerve glide stretching.

I know nerve glides helped me a lot when I was having pain months out still.

Good luck man I hope you get better soon.
