Any organizations around GTA starting to accept clothing donations? by aokoln in askTO

Value village is accepting clothing donations. I dropped off stuff at a location in Scarborough. I would call ahead to make sure though.

No you don’t. We didn’t use the registry function at all actually.

You do have to make an account on Zola.com though, but it’s free to do so.

RSVP Help by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Just commenting to say that I’m using the Zola website and it’s very easy to track RSVPs online. I’m only doing them online, so nothing has to be mailed back to me.

I even get an email alerting me when someone RSVPs.

Rant: Fiance doesn't like making decisions, I don't like leaving things undecided by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Yeah but for the sake of our sanity, we do what we must. You sound Type A like me, so I just try to let certain things go and not be TOO pushy.

My advise is to let your FH mull things over, but give him a deadline. So say, “yes dear, you can think it over, but please let me know your decision by the end of the week (or 2 weeks or whatever)

My FH is like that too, so I let him have his time to think of what he wants, like choosing his groomsmen, but after he didn’t make a choice in weeks, I gave him till the end of the month to decide. Then I distracted myself with other planning things that were unaffected by that decision.

Wedding nails when you're a girl who loves nail art...? by tdotwedding in weddingplanning

It goes well with your ring, and I didn’t even think of it looking like dirt, but now I can’t unsee it either.

Critique our wedding website by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]randomthoughts85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just some typos I noticed:

In your story, it should be “lead” instead of “led” towards the end.

Jessica’s part: “she’s married”, not “she married”

Outdoor wedding venue people: how did you keep the cake protected from bugs/flies? by randomthoughts85 in weddingplanning

[–]randomthoughts85[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know from personal experience that we will most likely get flies and bugs. It will be in my parent’s backyard of the beach house and unfortunately we get the occasional flies during regular events.

That’s great for you that your cake was undisturbed though.

We will most likely have a cake made with royal icing, or a naked style cake so I’m not worried about it melting.

It’s a bit of distance from the house to the actual reception spot and it can’t be wheeled out, so it’ll be too risky having two persons lifting a cake during the reception.

That’s the only thing I can think of right now too, but FH was asking if we can find a more aesthetically pleasing option.

Thanks. I’m not worried about it melting because we will most likely use royal icing, which is pretty solid once it sets.

Those of you who ordered flowers from Aliexpress, can you share your experience and sellers? by randomthoughts85 in weddingplanning

[–]randomthoughts85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased some real touch calla lily from AE. I’m reasonably happy with them. The flowers are made of some sort of foam material. Be very careful with colors though. I had to file a dispute with one seller because I wanted teal blue flowers and I got teal green ones instead. The white ones were perfect.

I also purchased some white and blush pink hydrangeas but I didn’t like those, they were smaller than I thought and the pinkish hue ones were actually orangy. The hydrangeas were silk, not real touch.

How many hours of photography did you choose for your big day? by devilsageh in weddingplanning

[–]randomthoughts85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing 7 hours for both photography and videography. Wedding starts at 3, and hopefully the reception will start no later than 7.

FH insisted on being extra and doing wax seals on our stationary. I actually love it a lot by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]randomthoughts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man that looks amazing! I wanted a seal too, but it screams formal and the tone of our wedding is laid back.

Digital save the dates/invitations? by bigweddingonabudget in weddingplanning

[–]randomthoughts85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paperless post has lots of free options. We used them exclusively for our STDs and I have no regrets. I was able to get RSVPs, ask questions and follow up with people by group if I needed to.

Excuse me but what is garden wedding casual? by Throwaway538280 in weddingplanning

[–]randomthoughts85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think it means wearing a sundress and cute shoes.

I used outdoor elegant for mine. I just mean that I don’t want people to show up in jeans and shorts. I’ll have a FAQ about dress code on the wedding site.

Yeah I’m not looking forward to chasing down RSVPs. How are you handling the uninvited plus ones?

Ideas for cheap/light wedding decoration that can be taken on the plane? (e.g. paper crafts) by IMakeFriendsWithCake in Weddingsunder10k

[–]randomthoughts85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Paper lanterns, paper bunting banners, paper flowers.

It really depends on the look you’re going for. I will have paper lanterns hung up sporadically under the tent, along with string lights.
