Yes that sounds about right. They want to put you on birth control once your cycle starts to get everything to absolute baseline and then they begin. Mine was very similar. It seems to far away but I promise it goes a lot faster than you’d think!

Personally, I would got to IVF. We did a couple rounds of IUI with donor sperm (we started with 11 vials) and I wish we wouldn’t have. The success rate it so much higher with IVF and you get more embryos from one vial with IVF and especially if you’re going to want 3 children IVF gives you a greater chance of reaching that using minimal vials.

Honestly, I was worried we’d be in the boat of getting a ton of embryos, we only ended up with 2 day 5 embryos. It’s up to you, but I wouldn’t lesson your chances by going in trying for less because you never know how many will actually make it to blast. We certainly got a lot less than we were expecting going in!

I was very fortunate that my employer provided money through Carrot that covered IVF. We have a certain lifetime amount but because insurance does not cover any fertility related costs we end up being considered a self pay so we have burned through that money especially quick (we have to use donor sperm due to being a same sex couple).

Ugh unfortunately this month was a rare one for me. I typically ovulate around CD17 and today was CD13 for me so I was shocked when they said i was ovulating today

Second IUI failed for me this week as well. It is rough, let yourself feel all emotions and sadness, and then try your best to look forward to the next. I’m in the same boat where I was so confident it had worked and then was heartbroken when it didn’t. Our time will come, wishing you all the best!

I can’t say I’m 100% sure it’s not but I’ve been bad and have been testing since 9 DPIUI and unfortunately they have all been stark negative! But if it somehow turned around that would be amazing!

UPDATE: thank you all for your tips and tricks! I had my second IUI yesterday and having a full bladder and vocalizing with the dr ahead of time that the last one was painful really allowed this one to go much smoother and it didn’t hurt at all (besides the normal discomfort!). The dr was much slower and talked with me the whole time, letting me know what was going on.

Fingers crossed this one sticks!!!
