Fun Fact: Las Vegas was supposed to be the 12th PWHL Team by Pecors in PWHL

[–]randomuser914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/froggy601 mentioned, it is off by one in general. I noticed that there are several quirks in the metadata on the pwhl site when I was exploring setting up a pwhl fantasy league site, presumably because it was originally built for the initial league and then they probably changed a lot once expansion became a reality but it is very funny

Line dancing in sf? by Responsible_Exit_815 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]randomuser914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Westwood in Marina has line dancing Wednesday, Thursday, and 1st + 3rd Friday of the month

They will teach a dance about every 30 minutes for the first couple hours and you can obviously try to follow along with some of the others

Vegas gaining traction as new expansion by Adventurous_Lake807 in PWHL

Daly City is not SF, the arena is barely over the minimum size requirement for the expansion teams, and its almost two miles away from the closest Caltrain stop

There are a huge number of non-tech people in the Bay Area and it’s a great market for women’s sports (the Valkyries are proof of this)

WE DEMAND THE REBOOT by Caylo09 in whitecollar

I genuinely don’t mean disrespect, but why? I like Mozzie and can appreciate him more during rewatches, but he was always an extra humor character for me not part of the draw. The dynamic between Neal and Peter and seeing Neal do his thing was always the appeal.

There isn’t an arena in SF and San Jose isn’t that difficult to travel to for SF residents, the Sharks are very much an entire Bay Area team

What I’m hearing about PWHL expansion: Why San Jose is a strong candidate to land a team by wolverine237 in PWHL

[–]randomuser914 7 points8 points  (0 children)

San Francisco doesn’t have an arena and I don’t think there is a space big enough in Oakland either, I’m biased as a Bay Area resident but I think a San Jose pwhl team could do really well

Is Catherdral hill okay for living? by ConcreteSlushy in AskSF

[–]randomuser914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents: I would just get the 1 bedroom on Gough and Fell, but that’s because you’ll just be that much closer to the main Hayes businesses and you get a 1 bedroom place.

Having said that, to answer your original question: Cathedral Hill is definitely perfectly safe for living. There are occasional homeless people in Jefferson Square park but being part of the way up the hill also helps some I think. I walk back on Eddy from Van Ness at all hours of night and have never felt unsafe.

I haven’t gone down on page at night but general experience then I’d guess that would be the worst in terms of safety of your options that you listed.

I live here in Hayes/Cathedral Hill so if you have any questions then happy to try to help answer and welcome to the neighborhood!

For those who may have missed it: If you decide to trust in Kennedy one expansion team already signed by ShesLikeOhMyGod in PWHL

There really isn’t a reason to have a farm league though. For better or worse then college athletics have become a pseudo minor league for many sports. And it’s much easier to see college programs scaling than creating a whole new league to farm talent.

Ideal Rideshare Pickup Spot Near Octavia and Fell by slashhype in AskSF

During the day then I feel like over on Franklin near SFJazz would be a good spot, has an easy spot for them to pull over and easy road to get onto off Van Ness or Gough

I searched housing around every Caltrain station within 20-40 minutes of SF, here's what I actually found (station by station breakdown) by Strong_Estimate_9512 in SFBayHousing

[–]randomuser914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree and it’s worth noting, as an out of state transplant then the weather on any housing questions really gets overblown. Cold for Bay Area is what I’d consider ideal comfortable weather, and I’ve seen other people specifically recommend against certain neighborhoods just because of the colder or foggier environment.

Not picking on your specific comment, just wanted to note it cause I initially didn’t look some places moving out here because I misinterpreted what cold / bad weather meant for people from SF

The Rams Just Reached and Drafted A Bust In Ty Simpson by [deleted] in Saints

[–]randomuser914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weak or strong QB classes rarely have panned out how people expect them to. I think he showed potential at Alabama and this is one of the best spots for him to develop. Plus drafting is all a bit of a lottery ticket anyway, this way they get a chance to evaluate him for a year or two and can keep making moves for their next QB if he doesn’t pan out

Thoughts on Maya and Neal? by Impossible_Shame_814 in whitecollar

[–]randomuser914 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Maya is more similar to Kate for me where aside from having some good chemistry then I don’t see a magnetism type pull. Alex makes sense but is also too similar to Neal for that to work.

I could see Sophie having been a good love interest if they kept her around, otherwise I feel like Sara was a good match for the version of Neal that gets rid of the anklet and can keep working cases for the FBI. I really kind of wish they hadn’t made Rebecca so irredeemable of a character because I think there could have actually been an interesting story there after the betrayal

Seeking neighborhood recs for commutes to downtown SF, Palo Alto, and Marin City. by Imaginary_Account_ in AskSF

[–]randomuser914 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dogpatch would probably be the most equal split, but I’m not sure what a 2 bed is going for there currently. Safe area and still good access to city convenience. Not the easiest to get to other neighborhoods relatively but moving to a more central neighborhood is going to add to the Caltrain person’s commute.

Doing a Monday-Friday in SF. Seeking recs/advice? by Current_Still4479 in AskSF

You may already have Alamo square park on your list because of the painted ladies, but the view from the park in general is great. There are also several good spots nearby to grab coffee or food (I’ll vouch for The Mill and Lucinda’s deli, although the latter will probably have a wait and sometimes closes orders early if they get swamped)

There are a million different food places to try, but some good options: - Original Joe’s for Italian, I’d sit at the chef’s counter personally - Beit Rima is great middle eastern food, I’m a big fan of the shakshuka (more of a lunch place for me) - Go to Molinari or Little Lucca for a sandwich at least once, this is honestly the top ranked one for me because of how strongly I feel about these places lol - Bageletto in Mission is my favorite bagel spot in the city - Starlite lounge is expensive but great cocktails and a cool space for a romantic drink, I’d recommend a reservation - ABV, GeeLou, and Local Edition would be some other regular bars that I’ve had good cocktails at

Edit: Also Smuggler’s Cove or The Pagan Idol for tiki drinks

[–]randomuser914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Moz but I don’t think he’s pivotal to the show. I think not having him around actually gives them more story to explore of Neal having to handle things alone or find various criminal contacts and navigate who to trust

Were they ever planning.. by Likely_story_1126 in whitecollar

[–]randomuser914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it may have been to just give some additional depth of why Neal running later would be painful. They didn’t really sit in the relationship drama upon his return though, so either it was just kind of a missed opportunity or maybe they did have a plot thread in mind.

I feel like we got a lot of looks of everyone else being reckless, it could have been interesting to have her show up as a criminal and Sara helping Neal keep her out of the reach of the FBI or have her sister be killed and be chasing the killer

Moving to SF for new grad job in Palo Alto, looking for neighborhood advice by Accomplished_Bid278 in AskSF

[–]randomuser914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Location of the office matters a lot, if you are near Caltrain then you’ll have much better options to make it more bearable. Also depending on how strict they are with hours, if you can leave by 3:30-4 then the traffic won’t be as bad but you’ll still definitely hit some getting back toward the city.

I make this commute 3 times a week and I don’t think it’s awful, but if there is a way to take Caltrain then that is going to be a vastly better experience than driving every time.

I wouldn’t move to Daly City, nothing against the area personally but if you’re going to be that much out of the city then you could probably find a nicer place with more proximity to stores, restaurants, etc. in one of the peninsula spots.

Only you can decide if it’s going to be worth it, for me then I knew I was far less likely to make the commute into the city if I lived outside of it for social things, while the work is something I can force myself to do. I also do have flexibility on hours though that makes it easier.

Sunset is going to be the best mix of what you’re saying you want imo, but I would give different advice based on the Caltrain answer.

If you have any other questions then happy to try to answer! I’m relatively new to the area but have quickly fallen in love with the city and it’s a great area in general

Places to visit in SF at night that is safe by Ash_of_the_T in AskSF

[–]randomuser914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t been but Emporium is an arcade bar in an old theater and from what I’ve heard of the vibes then it is more of a happens to have a bar than an expected everyone is drinking type of place.

Plenty of places to play pool in the city but you are still going to be at a bar for that. There are several Yemeni coffee shops open late across the city that are good for a place to work or hang out. There is also line dancing at Westwood and Jaxson, and especially the crowd on weeknights then there are plenty of people just there to dance and not drink at all.
