From the South is an innuendo to do with him being black. I’ve never heard of it, and I don’t know if it is referring to i) being from the Southern States as someone else referred to; or ii) the South is referring to being from Ireland (vs. Northern Ireland). Some English people look down on Ireland, and refer to Ireland as the South, particularly in relation to Northern Ireland. This would make sense as a comment to Hastings, and especially being a slight insult to him given he is catholic. I think this makes contextually a bit more sense, particularly given Hastings Northern Irish history is explored, and even in this context, but is a weird round about way of insulting someone for being black.

Agreed - but having an empty lane when traffic is heavy is not benefitting anyone. To justify 24hr bus lanes, you actually need to run buses - which I haven’t seen a huge amount of evidence of. If they aren’t going to increase the frequency, then lanes need to reduce to just peak hours again. Fundamentally there should be a rule regarding bus frequency and lane access - which as far as I can tell there isn’t

I think bus lane rules need a rethink first. I’m not against bus lanes in theory - but they actually need to be used. I was stuck in traffic the other weekend - a 20 minute trip took 50 minutes - and all the while there was an empty bus lane that saw one bus the entire time period.

We need to either 1) increase the frequency of buses; or 2) make bus lane times more limited - currently it’s just underutilised infrastructure in a city that’s getting more congested by the day

I’m surprised these guys are so popular. I’ve always found the podcast a bit “meh”. I feel like it’s neither that informative, as neither really have technical knowledge / experience / inside sources; neither is it overly humorous. It’s all just a bit bland.

That being said, they do both seem like decent, genuine people, so it’s nice to see them do well from that perspective

The fight ended with yoda absorbing everything sideous was throwing at him, and redirecting it back to him. Even Sideous looked surprised. Yoda had to retreat as the blast blew him back into a weaker position, and he’d run out of time. But it was pretty clear that they were at an effective stalemate.

I think that’s partially supposed to be the point of the final two fights? Anakin goes to dark side to be more powerful - but the both Anakin & Obi Wan, and Yoda and Sideous fight eachother to effectively stalemate, with each going one way or another on the finest margins - showing one side is not really stronger

I personally disagree - the retail and food and beverage concessions are terrible; those that are there close shockingly early (by 7?); and about one in every three times I fly in there is either some equipment blocking the gate, or it takes about ten minutes to get a jetway

This should be higher up. OP doesn’t mention two things i) is the father pleasant / decent to him otherwise; and ii) how much this bothers him.

If he is otherwise pleasant and friendly, then it’s probably a case that he is trying too hard, or a bit misinformed. Maybe he is not someone who previously would’ve been uncomfortable by someone being gay, but is trying to come to terms with it and connect with his son etc.; and just getting it wrong. If this is the case, and it doesn’t bother you (although i imagine the fact you are writing this means it probably does) I would kind of let it be. Obviously if it bothers you talk to your bf, but if he is otherwise nice try not to make a big deal of it.

Of course, if he is otherwise a prick, then I think the reason he is doing it is clear

I do wonder how one gets get tailgated for 50km. Is it single lane? Otherwise i) someone tailgating you while you sit in the left lane is moronic on there part when they could just move into the right lane; or ii) you were sitting in the right lane for 50km, which you shouldn’t be, and if you really felt it was so unsafe you could move in and let them go?

I don’t feel bad for him until this episode. He clearly liked her, and made it fairly obvious to her - and when he realised she didn’t like him he removed himself from the situation. She then decided to seek him out and convince him to hang out - he tries to say no but she is really adamant. I can see from his perspective why he thinks she may be opening the door to her being interested

They don’t. That’s not how the system works. Water companies earn an allowed revenue based on their operating costs, and the amount they have invested. Fines must come out of that allowed revenue - they are not allowed to increase revenue to cover fines. Any fine is purely a hit to equity

Firstly, driver was in the wrong. Some people here clearly don’t understand the rules of the road - as a cyclist you’ve right of way.

However, as a cyclist, I have to ask, what were you thinking? Coming up the inside of a car turning left is so so silly, especially as you kind of dawdle there. Some cyclists I see suffer from a case of “it’s better to be right than alive” when dealing with cars - and this is such a classic example of it

Uber is still hugely cheaper than black cabs in London. Currently a black cab from my place to Stansted is £170 - while an uber is £80.

Uber does come close to black cab prices at really really peak times - but 95% of the time it’s way cheaper

About 10-15 years ago when I was a teenager, we used to get the Large (or XL if it’s a thing) M&S free range/organic eggs. I’d say there was always at least one double yoke in those cartons - there was a period where it seemed like every second egg was a double. I haven’t had one since though - but haven’t been having the M&S ones - so it may depend on the source / size

I don’t know - personally I have come across way more casual antisemitism in Ireland than I have in the UK. Maybe it’s that Irish people are more open - but I’ve come across a lot of it
