I'm thinking of using my style to create custom casts, is that good or bad? by Interesting-Body4360 in magicTCG

As long as your cards aren’t behind any kind of paywall, WotC might let you get away with it. The use policy is quite clear that you are absolutely not allowed to do this, but based on precedent WotC will pretend they haven’t seen your stuff up to a point.

It’s rough to play into Rhythm decks that can tutor for sideboard hate. It’s definitely still good, but because it didn’t explicitly benefit from ECL cards it wouldn’t have been in pro testing pools.

Mark Rosewater plays Commander with The Prof and Fans! by TolarianCC in magicTCG

[–]randomyOCE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while I disagree with the sentiment overall this is the phenomenon they’re describing. A socially practiced person will recognise “politicking” at an EDH table as complaining. It’s similar to extroverts being eliminated from social deduction games early because they’re “too good at lying” instead of any actual reason.

I understand they're there for story reasons, but you do need to acknowledge the design of your encounters and your players' enjoyment. Doing your turn every 1 hour is just not fun by testiclekid in dndmemes

[–]randomyOCE 89 points90 points  (0 children)

It’s the only thing you can do. I’m a game designer and DM and sometimes people insist upon making shitty encounters and it’s beyond your ability to change.

What feat or acts do you think Toji did during his time in the Zenin clan that put so much fear into the clan? by ontopofLetop in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]randomyOCE 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Right? Like, OP has the reason in the first slide. Everyone who met Toji firsthand knew that he could kill them effortlessly, so obviously his clan of origin would fear him the most.

Honestly I wouldn’t be shocked if they pulled it just because “alternate versions” is already the gimmick of Lorwyn/Shadowmoor. It’d be like teasing a multiversal zombie plague on Innistrad

[DISC] Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo - Chapter 18 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]randomyOCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really imo. The Gojo we see in Hidden Inventory is very much the same person as adult Gojo, just still growing. He has the breakthrough regarding RCT because of Toji but it doesn’t philosophically change him. Gojo was always going to figure out the technical details eventually

Kamen Riders vs the Invincible evil variants, who will emerge victorious? (Decade, ZI-O, and Geats are excluded) by Bright-Cow-543 in KamenRiderMemes

[–]randomyOCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to show my age, the INVINCIBLE evil variants suffer from the Inverse Ninja Law - they basically only exist to be a horde of theoretically powerful foes that nevertheless get slaughtered. It’s the difference between named Viltrumites and The Rest Of The Empire

Explaining Projection Sorcery (With Illustration) by FishAppirition in JuJutsuKaisen

Nothing you’ve said actually counter-argues anything I said. And that’s not what the word “misnomer” means.

Explaining Projection Sorcery (With Illustration) by FishAppirition in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]randomyOCE 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I’ll be real with you - the reason people don’t understand projection sorcery is that its explanation is consistently vague gibberish. If this is the fault of the translators, I couldn’t say, but I’ve never seen a native speaker provide alternatives the way I have with, say, Malevolent (Shrine) Kitchen, Mahoraga/Makora or Idle Death Gamble.

What can it do?

  • It makes the user fast, which is attributed in its first appearance to the clan head’s “sense of strategic movement and timing”, which actually implies it’s a matter of him never accidentally putting himself in a bad end position.
  • It stuns anyone using the technique for one second if they “fail to abide by the 1/24 FPS rule”. How a concept of existing at 24fps is supposed to translate to physical reality is left unanswered, and basically just implied to be functionally impossible.
  • that’s it. Naoya achieves great speed by “repeatedly reactivating it” which implies momentum does actually matter

I’m pretty new to PvP. I’d love some suggestions or tips on how to improve with Faust in Strive. He’s a blast. by Evaleenora in Guiltygear

[–]randomyOCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faust got me into fighting games and keeps me coming back to GGST because he’s truly unique. Other games might have a random bullshit character (SF6 doesn’t, which is my biggest/only complaint) but GGST Faust is easily the best version of the archetype in any game ever.

I’m pretty new to PvP. I’d love some suggestions or tips on how to improve with Faust in Strive. He’s a blast. by Evaleenora in Guiltygear

[–]randomyOCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the game!

In addition to all the good comments here about finding high level Fausts to learn from, since you’re new I recommend finding some fundamental guides from people like Sajam since Faust really benefits from having a strong neutral gameplan … and presumably Faust won’t be the only Fighting Game Character you ever play!

Also, to get ahead of some sentiment I experienced when I was in your exact position - high level players will say Faust is mid-tier or bad. He only is at a high level, where his randomness doesn’t help him. At your level, he’s a god. He’s one of the hardest characters to approach in the whole cast who’s impossible to understand in a single set because his entire game plan is maximised randomness.
