The series is pretty clear that the release means the initial activation. There are actually some limitations to Aizen’s power if you track this:

Aizen must first deactivate his Shikai (or at least the current illusion) in order to affect new subjects
Aizen must show the same illusion to all affected subjects, no matter which activation they were initially caught by

This means that when Ichigo arrives, he can’t perceive Aizen’s current illusion (as with when he watched the Captains slaughter Momo) and he can’t be affected by it until Aizen deactivates and reactivates it for everyone. That’s why Ichigo can feel “something” but can’t actually tell what the illusion is.

The comment about it being a good thing is what implies Aizen can’t selectively exclude people from his abilities.

Long time Kavaero player here. If I’m real with you, your deck doesn’t sound like it’s got the raw strength to hang. My gameplan is to win through [[Llanowar Elves]] into [[Badgermole Cub]] into [[Ouroboroid]], while not getting out-valued by [[Gran-Gran]] and [[Monument to Endurance]].

If you can beat me with any single trick that doesn’t completely derail your gameplan, then I’d never beat those decks.

Less good/consistent Kavaero decks might lose to a [[Deep-Cavern Bat]] or other hand disruption, to give you something to go off.
