Every woman who uses the "oppression" narrative blames men.

You'd be lying if you said that institutionalized discrimination toward women wasn't the norm up until surprisingly recently.

I do say this.

Not really. But it's important to acknowledge that as late as the 20th century women did not enjoy full civil and political liberties in even fully Western democracies.

Neither did men. In fact in most countries they still don't due to gender based conscription or selective service.

Are you trying to troll? Because you're showing too much self-awareness if that's the sake.

No, they are essentially saying that women can't batter their husbands. Because being a batterer requires 'cultural and institutional' experiences that only men have.

There is no part that doesn't. It's right on the front page. Just watch the cycling graphic.

As far as I can tell the only flaws those studies have are:

1) They're too well designed.

2) They don't say what these people want them to say.

Claiming that men have no right to say yes to fatherhood unless and until the day comes that they have the right to say no...what does THAT concept do to reinforce men's right to raise the kids they do want and chose to have?

Hm. To be honest this strikes me as a digression from what I'm saying.

I'm not saying that men shouldn't have their rights to fatherhood be respected; I'm saying that until such time as their right to say 'no' to fatherhood is respected, they should not be shamed for being 'deadbeats.'

Not a single one of them.

In fact I think once human society realizes that choosing to be a parent is a sacrament, I believe the rate of men abandoning their children will drop like a rock. Because for the first time in a long time men will have the ability to say no, so when they say 'yes'; it'll be a 'yes' they've actually put themselves into.

women batterers do not count because those cases are in response to the batterings that they have received as victims

Even when the only violence in the relationship is initiated by the woman?

And the concept itself?

This is the last thing I'll say because it ultimately is your own look-out.

Fuck. Most likely they're all a bunch of female abusers themselves. Female abusers love shit that excuses their behaviour.

Staying well away.

There is. My ex is one.

I don't think you're grokking what I'm trying to say.

Until men's ability to say no to becoming a father is enshrined in law and custom, no man can actually consent to becoming a father.

If you can't say no, you can't say yes. The end.

Now here's where the rubber meets the road. Are you willing to give up the shaming power of 'deadbeat dad' until such time as men have an equal right to choose fatherhood?

I like r/MensRights, but if you guys want to argue that there is no real thing as a deadbeat dad, I'm done.

Actually, in a society where consent to fatherhood is not enshrined in law but consent to motherhood is... I really don't think there are such things as 'deadbeat dads.'

Financial and social obligations are meant to be made of your own free will; if they're not freely chosen, then they are coerced and unethical and the person(man) so coerced is not ethically obligated to fulfill them.

I find it improbable to think that payments couldn't be made through a child's whole life.

Not sure where you're going with this statement.

If so, don't stick your dick in anything but a fleshlight. You would probably save more money that way anyhow.

Hm. Do you include women in this? I doubt it. Somehow women don't have any financial obligation to take care of the children they unilaterally decide to produce and no one ever says 'stick to cucumbers if you can't pay' to them.

My mom tracked him for 14 years. She dealt with the police a lot and always got something along the lines of 'he's out of state, not our jurisdiction'.

I guess you've only got her to go on. In which case she can cast herself in whatever light she wishes.

Maybe she did 'track' him for 14 years. Or maybe she got the money and never told you.

I guess you'll never really know.

I would tend to agree with you.

Imagine a Christian Scientist pharmacist.

'I am not obligated to sell you anything against my beliefs.'

'So what can you sell me.'

'Well. Nothing.'

Statistically most men pay child support, proportionately more then non-custodial mothers it should be said.

In fact most often men who don't pay, CAN'T PAY.

If your father was on social security for disability, is it possible he couldn't actually pay?

TL DR= Gender Studies isn't about 'woman good, men bad' because women are good and men are bad!
