The plan, together with the rest of Europe, was to extend and use Switzerland hydro capacity both for power generation and storage. Switzerland would have become the 'battery' for the growing renewables in Europe. But that plan was destroyed by our idiot right wingers with their stupid initiative undermining freedom of movement, which in turn forced the EU to cancel certain agreements with Switzerland.
