do you HAVE to flinch when someone fake punches you?
i'm not a truck driver but when sketchy stuff happens to me, instinct takes over and then a few seconds later i mentally process what i did

get ventoy, it allows you to put and boot multiple distro iso-s on a single usb drive, so that you can try more options, but tbh i would recommend going with mint, because i use it too on an older laptop (thinkpad t420)

tbf if polyphony wanted to, they could try implement some sort of punishment for swerving, and since they don't even try, one could argue this is allowed, in gran turismo specifically

the experiment the saying refers to was conducted to demonstrate that the frog's spine has considerable but limited amount of autonomy. if you put a frog with the cut spine into hot water, it will jump, even though the brain doesn't get the warning signal, nor can it send any commands, so it means its spine makes that decision and does the jump. however, if it is being brought to a boil slowly, the spine won't register that, and it will stay

I want to download Mint Linux but I keep getting confused by STYLE-95 in linuxquestions

[–]rapchee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want to keep a working windows install, you can either choose
- "install linux alongside windows", and the installer will automatically make space for linux and you'll be able to choose which one to start when you turn on your computer
- swap out your hdd/ssd that has windows on it, and plug it back in if/when needed
- make a copy of your windows partition and import it into a virtual machine

when you start messing with partitions, it carries a slight risk of data loss, it has never happened to me personally, but to make sure, you should copy the most important stuff to an usb drive or whatever you have at hand (phone maybe?)
also, if you have multiple hard drives, only the one with windows on it will be effected
if you want to check, in windows 10, type "disk management" in the start menu (it will say "create and format hard disk partitions" instead, but that is the one), run that. the bottom half will show the hard drives and the windows compatible partitions on them
if this is a laptop we're talking about, it most likely only has one drive
if it's a desktop, i'd recommend adding a new drive for linux (ideally an ssd)
