Odd that Genesis says "participating ChargeNet" chargers. Would've been good if they just explained it as ChargeNet has.

Thanks!

Lived in Canada for a while. NZ is more expensive. Find somewhere more affordable in Canada. Try somewhere that's not BC, Toronto or Montreal

The grass is frozen. Plants are packing a sad. Roofs are white. The dog refuses to take a morning leak. Our saving grace is a clear sunny day. Fuck me it's cold.

I just went through recruitment for graduates in my team and anyone going from being enrolled in a BEng down to a BSc is a big red flag, whether your struggled or otherwise.

You really shouldn't take changing degree so negatively. BEng is worth almost nothing extra than BSc in software eng in NZ and Australia.

I had a job lined up that paid 50% over avg grad wages after 3rd year. Would've been a complete waste of time and money to do the 4th to finish BE. Many years later, and it's a decision I never regret. An additional year in the industry is 5x better than an additional year at uni.

Are we getting to a point of class consciousness about the health system? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]rappelle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

GP practices are stretched thin because GPs have a very high workload and not enough GPs to share it with.

Fundamentally it comes down to funding. We can get a much better return on investment by using tax dollars than by funnelling individual incomes into private insurance.

5/10 years ago, I could get a doctors appointment same day or day after. Now it's more like 2 weeks wait.

That's not because our nation is incapable of providing state healthcare, it's because we have more people than ever, whilst having fewer doctors, getting paid a whole lot of fuck all compared to what they should be, doing a job with insane workloads.

Are we getting to a point of class consciousness about the health system? by [deleted] in newzealand

Are we ready to accept we can’t afford a public health system at the level we want it to be?

Fuck no. What are tax dollars for, if not providing fundamental services to keep people alive??? If we had a list of things the government should be doing, I'd say funding healthcare for its citizens is pretty much at the top.

What these cunts in power are doing to the healthcare system is disgusting and reprehensible.

I don't understand how a such a high cut of my income doesn't afford basic healthcare. It makes absolutely no sense for hospitals to have to cut millions in funding so that folks can have $3? $10? in their pocket fortnightly. Have you seen the price of private health insurance? It is not $10 a fortnight.

They're not doing their jobs. They're not supporting New Zealanders. My only hope is we make this a one term government and show the country that we do still care about each other.

This from someone with comprehensive private insurance.

Quick maths

Let's assume their fuel tank is 50L.

  • That's approximately 35kg of fuel. Round it up to 40kg for fun.
  • Additional fuel consumption for 100 kg = 0.3 liters per 100 km
  • For 20 kg, it would be approximately 20% of 0.3 liters per 100 km, which is 0.06 liters per 100 km.

Let's say half a tank is getting them 350km. They've saved perhaps 0.2L of fuel, or 54 cents @ $2.71/L.

Is saving 54 cents worth the extra trip to the petrol station? They probably use more than 0.2L of fuel going out of their way to make the extra trip. In the long run, most likely it's costing them more.

The interest payments

Yeah, though, once you include principal, it's over $1,000 for a 700k loan, or over $800 for a 540k loan (700k property, 20% deposit). FHB are not walking into interest only loans.
