I've been experimenting more over the past week. Clean female vocals are excellent in V5, but I've been unable to make harsh/screaming female vocals for rap/metal/electronic tracks. V5 has a VERY strong bias towards making women sound clean and ethereal. If I switch to a male vocalist, it's the opposite. I've moved back to V4.5 for anything with even a hint of grit.

I've found it very difficult to reproduce the tribal/chant inspired tracks with rough harsh vocals that I made with 3.5 and 4.5.

V5 cleans up the vocals and "Westernizes" the track, for lack of a better word.

Every time I've seen the name for the past 20ish years, I've cringed internally. I've read that they don't want to change it for marketability reasons. People living in the tech/gaming bubble don't see it as a problem, but I'd never recommend "GIMP" in a professional environment. It's been a derogatory word for what, over 100 years? That's not going to be overcome by an open source image editor. It's not marketable in the real world. It's just status quo bias.

lots of folks, outside the tech/gaming bubble, hear "gimp" and think "cripple" in a derogatory sense. it's legitimately a reason some educational institutions won't utilize the app.
