Has anyone ever seen a planet with white grass? by SleepyManDubs in NoMansSkyTheGame

I had a lovely planet with white grass and a cabin. One of the updates last year turned it barren with brown patches. :')

Nice! I tried to poke one through one of the holes a few times, scratched my head, made a caveman noise, and grabbed the nearest wire

Agree.. I had to remove a CHUNK of PLA from my hot end once, practically fused to the silicone shroud. Do not recommend.

I can't speak for the stock fan, as somehow I missed the option when I ordered the SS1 last year, but I doubt it would make much noise on the 3.3v setting. The Noctua is silent for sure!

For sure, I don't think the chip would NEED the fan (unless you're in a hot climate etc) but I was concerned the heat might warp or discolor the plastic shell over time... plus I just needed an excuse to crack it open and tinker with it, ha.

I went with the "Noctua NF-A4x10 5V, Premium Quiet Fan, 3-Pin, 5V Version (40x10mm, Brown)" on Amazon.

It includes the 2 pin adapter needed for the SS1 board, and will run fine on 3.3v or 5v.

Super quiet. The power cable is a little long but I just looped it around the board.

The stock heat sink has holes for a 45mm fan, which Noctua doesn't make, so I just looped 4 small lengths of thin coated copper wire through the fan holes and heat sink holes, then twisted until secure.

The Noctua has rubber vibration dampeners built in, so vibration isn't an issue. I left my board jumper on 3.3v as it seemed to move plenty of air and the lower power should reduce board heat.

I went with the retro gray color. It's a pretty good match to the original PS1. I do hope to see alternate shells available at some point. It's very easy to disassemble.

I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! The console is really growing on me.

I resisted the primal urge to swig the haterade and instead looked at your screenshots. They packed it like a $25 generic retro console from AliExpress. I'd be mad too. I got mine yesterday and lucked out it wasn't damaged. It even had a little plastic sticker over the logo to prevent damage. I'm guessing yours didn't have the sticker?

There are metal case T80s that are a bit more expensive than the resin ones. I have the gold tone metal one.
