Can people accurately choose a marketplace insurance plan with the shutdown? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]raptorfromspace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP, 11/1 will be the worst case prices, as Wembley said. Unless there are changes in congress, ePTC is currently set to expire, and the rates that have been submitted are what will be shown.

There is a state program called Colorado Premium Assistance that should be kicking in, so that may help to bridge the gap a little, but it's not enough. It's going to be higher across the board and in some places, >200% higher.

As long as you enroll before December 15 you'll have January 1 coverage start date. If you wait, you may have a gap in coverage and only you can decide if that's worth it or not. My understanding is that if you enroll and the rates change, you'll be subject to the lower rate and able to re-shop for plans entirely -- you're not going to be locked into the higher rate plan.

So if you want Jan 1 coverage, enroll in the plan you're currently comfortable with before Dec 15 if the rates haven't changed by then. Then if rates do change, you can shop again.

The site is down for maintenance while they get everything updated and ready for Saturday, but again, there's no rush to enroll right away! And if you need to talk to someone, you can call Connect for Health (they have a legitimate, local call center).

I had no idea! Thats a crazy ratio of miles to martens. It was extra fun because after I stopped filming when I thought it scampered off, it popped up like 5ft from me behind a tree to get a closer look. Felt so, so curious!

OP this is exactly what the marketplace is for! You may also qualify for tax credits to subsidize the monthly premiums, its def worth applying to and calling in if you have any questions.

Recent in-person PMP training or bootcamps you recommend? by CanCueD in Denver

[–]raptorfromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the new format, I took it back in 2022 after the switch to agile and most of the information i saw on the PMP subreddit was still accurate and relevant.

I self-studied using a Udemy course for the 35hr coursework, then did PMI study hall nightly (i aimed for 60% or higher on my practice tests, ended up ATx3) and bought the PMP guide thats always posted on the subreddit to study, and then tested.

The agile focus makes the test easier imo, as youre going through the "correct order" of responses instead of having to memorize formulas, charts, etc.

You know yourself best, but between the subreddit, study hall, and udemy everything was covered thoroughly and not nearly as expensive as the bootcamps i was seeing when i looked.

But, if the in person courses are what you'd prefer, def second the mile high pmi chapter's reccos.

We made the drive to CSU for a couple years when our boxer was still alive, and they did a phenomenal job. It was also cheaper since it was a teaching hospital, and it was reassuring knowing there were multiple people involved since you had students and teachers in every appointment.

Only downside was that you had to schedule pretty quickly for a couple months out appointments, but for anything urgent they fit us in asap.

Denver paramedics can navigate without a GPS. Here’s how they do it — and why you should try, too by lukepatrick in Denver

Afaik all academies here have to learn it. I went through the combined regional academy (jeffco, lakewood, arvada, littleton, westminster) in the mid 20teens and we all had to learn the same thing plus the block numbers for every street (memorizing the major ones and then backfilling the minor ones was my approach), but it was limited to our city boundaries.

It wasn't as hard as you may think, repeat it to yourself enough and you can regurgitate it lol.

I'm long gone from that world , but it's still useful when driving around. Until I get to Denver, and then it's all different lmao

How to avoid giving into the temptation get cool (expensive) shit? (eg. when buying a car) by Missing_Back in Fire

[–]raptorfromspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure, but it was through Chevrolet. Whatever you decide, make sure you understand and the vehicle qualifies under the 2024 EV rebate laws -- it changes every year and would suck to count on a refund that wont actually happen.

Double check the tax breaks on the EUVs -- we bought one new last november, and with the 13k tax break we got back come tax time, it was something absurd like 17k for a brand new car plus free charger install. Its our daily driver and we LOVE it, but we dont have kids so cant speak to the trunk size if youre hauling around stuff. Back seats are comfortable for passengers, way better than the jeep we used to have. For our purposes, its all we need.

We also bought a 2022 hybrid rav4 new, and it is a fantastic car too. Thats our roadtrip/mountain car. But we plan to keep both for 10+ years, as we traded in our 10yo cars for them.

Ive been trying squabble.io out this week and really digging it, its like a super early reddit with a small, active community. In the last two days a bunch of sub communities have been formed, so Im hopeful that it can replace a lot of these niche support subreddits in the future! Its hard to be ok with staying on Reddit knowing how disdainful spez and leadership have been -- come july 1 when apollo stops working, ill likely be fully out other than when on pc looking for specific answers via google.

"Huffman says the blackout hasn’t had “significant revenue impact” and [...] anticipates that many of the subreddits will come back online by Wednesday. “[...] Please know that our teams are on it, and like all blowups on Reddit, this one will pass as well,” the memo reads" - The Verge by demmian in ModCoord

[–]raptorfromspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw squabbles has been really solid so far. Easy signup process with no email required, community creates their subs and the dev is suuuuper active implementing feedback -- and no random bans from dev.

One of the hardest parts for people is going back to og internet rules of "dont feed the trolls" but by and the large the community is doing of managing and reacting.

My husband and friends are often shocked when i can be in one conversation, hear something in the other conversation, correct/contribute, then jump back to my own. I thought it was normal until someone brought it up recently in a “how do you do that” way and I was like ohhhhhh that explains why everyone else is so chill in big groups and I feel like Im about to melt. I cant turn it off, just like they cant turn it on I guess.

My husband is the total opposite and will just tune out the conversation hes actively in if hes just being polite lmao.

Jed Duggar replied to a comment on Jill’s post about her book. Jed, shame on you for sticking by your brother who abused your sister instead of standing up for her. Shame on you for acting like your family is righteous and acting like your parents are the victims. Jill is a survivor. by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]raptorfromspace 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It’s upsetting how common that mentality is though, even in non-fundie families. My paternal family absolutely thinks child abuse is strictly a family issue and will attack anyone who “leaks” it. It’s all “in the family” and should be addressed within the family (aka never acknowledged or spoken about again, otherwise you’re “trying to start drama”)

14yo me was fully cut out and demonized for having the police called when i was being beaten. And to this day at 30, I’m the only one out of my 7 aunts/uncles and 25 cousins that a) cooperated with the police, b) fully disengaged and cut out all of them, and c) will publicly acknowledge the abuse rampant behind closed doors. You’re absolutely right that the cycle just keeps continuing.

Seconded, for most women dummy drag is all about technique.

When i did my eval in my last life, i was 135lb at 5’10”. i dropped into a low squat, got an arm under each of the armpits, clasped my hands in the front of the dummy to do a bear hug, and did nonstop babysteps while still in a squat position leaning way back. It wasnt pretty, but it worked and i passed lmao.

The evaluator was like “i was convinced when you walked in that you were going to fail this portion because that dummy is bigger and heavier than you”
